Last night I had the weirdest dream. It started when I bought a bunch of pot and was going to go up to my bedroom at my old house to smoke it (I'm not really sure why, I don't do drugs and I've never dreamt about doing them before), and my mom stopped me and unloaded a bunch of cookies and brownies on me to eat for research. Uhhhhh... okay ( Read more... )

I swear to god I'm not. As soon as I woke up I was like wtf? Did I actually dream what I think I did? HOLY SHIT I HAVE TO POST THIS TO LJ.

Goddammit, I never have cool dreams like that. Mine are always about, like...archaeological digs with ghost cats that actually wake me up in the morning when I'm awake-ish (trufax). Or about my (male) friend in a tutu and frog mask and flippers being my "fairy frogmother." But besides that...nothing.

Dude, that's still awesome. I want a dream about a fairy frogmother!
Also, I have ghost cats too... how weird is that?

Yeah, but it was...weird. Especially since I really liked him at the time. (x_x) My subconscious is wacky.

IT WAS SO FREAKY, THOUGH, 'CAUSE I WOKE UP AND FELT A CAT JUMP UP ON THE BED AND WAS LIKE OHAY KITTY 8D *PETS* AND THEN I REALIZED THAT WE DON'T HAVE CATS AND MY HAND WAS ACTUALLY STILL UNDER THE COVERS.

oh, yeah, that's like the shit your brain does when you're half-awake-half-asleep. Like when you feel like you're falling just as you're falling asleep or waking up, that happens to me too. The brain is a wacky thing, isn't it?

(Fairy frogmother dream still rules)

It was just so weird. And I've either been deluding myself a lot lately or there are ~things~ in my room that, like...watch me while I sleep. Which is creepy. But the only times I really feel them is when I'm about to go to bed and yeah. I tend to freak myself out a lot, so, you know....

(Yeah, it really does.)

I think it has to do with the state your brain goes into when you're going into lower levels of consciousness, your brainwaves change. It probably makes you feel weird in a way that you're somehow interpreting as something being there. Also, it's easier to hallucinate when you're starting to fall asleep. I used to hear weird voices sometimes when I was starting to fall asleep, but it wasn't like a hallucination, just sort of... I don't know, it's hard to explain. I knew they weren't real and I didn't actually hear anything, just stuff started popping into my head randomly in a way that you wouldn't think should be able to happen if you weren't trying to think of dialogue. I'd get snippets of conversations that made sense, but were out of context, like I was eavesdropping or something. It was weird, but it hasn't happened in years.

OMG IT WAS ALIENS.

Bah. That's so weird.

And funny story: we definitely learned about the brain today in science.
