And now, the Friday Night Lights panel. There were only 9 chairs up on the stage, so we were wondering who would be there, since it seemed like more than that were listed or at least mentioned in places. Turns out there was no Jesse Plemons or Kyle Chandler. Much sadness. Connie Britton told us that Kyle was really sorry about missing it. He thought he'd be back from Vancouver in time, but filming was pushed back a day. The rest of the cast was lovely though. And there was Jason Katims (Roswell!) and Ausiello was the moderator so I got to fangirl him a little. Christina and I were joking that we should stand up to ask a question and ask him about a Gilmore movie. Hee.
Christina and I got there pretty early and were the 3rd and 4th people in line. We got very bored, though, and proceeded to take random photographs, check our phones incessantly, and complain about how cold it was.
We finally got in and got our seats towards the front and on the aisle (though with some grumbling when they let people sit in front of us after telling us we were in the front row of our ticket section). Roz arrived and we settled in for the panel.
Ausiello introduced Jason Katims and he then introduced which episode we were going to watch. A whole episode. A good one, but still. We've seen it already. He couldn't remember the title (No One Left Behind) when he was up there and called down to the audience.
Jason really appreciated the fans passion and dedication, aside from all the criticism of the murder story, lmao. And he promised that the episode we were about to see did not feature anyone getting bldegeoned to death when he saw some people flinch, lmao.
After the episode, the panel was introduced.
Moderator: Michael Ausiello. Producers Jason Katims and Jeffrey Reiner, Connie Britton, Scott Porter, Minka Kelly, Zach Gilford, Aimee Teegarden, and Adrianne Palicki.
They started out with talk about the possible renewel/deal with DirecTV. Every time they talked about the show coming back, "the kids" would sit up and pay careful attention, since they're wanting to know as well. Heh. Everytime someone calls them they expect big news.
Next, they talked about how the strike changed the season. They didn't get to finish the Smash arc, or do the big football arc they had planned in the next episodes. If they come back next season they'll most likely jump ahead in time to the next season. Jason says he thinks they'll tell the stories they were planning to do, but there will be a passage of time. When he said it was his hope to keep all of the kid characters even if they jump in time, Minka wiped her forehead and said, "Phew." lol
The kids were down on the end whispering and doing some silly things. At one point Minka lightly smacked Amee across the chest. And a worker had to come in and fix Scott's mic. He joked that he flexed and it fell off.
They talked about the murder storyline and the dislike for it. Jason defended it, saying they had planned it a few times and kept moving it. The guy died 3 different times before finally ending up in the episode. Ausiello said it led to Adrianne and Jesse doing some of their best work. Jason said part of the inspiration for the storyline was figuring out some universe where Tyra would get together with Landry. "They need to kill somebody." Heh.
Connie talked about how easy it is to work with Kyle. They didn't have to work on it over hard liquour or anything. They share similar values and senses of humor. Except that sometimes he really pisses her off. "Like real!" Lol.
They talked about having freedom during filming. The cast doesn't always know where the cameras are (Scott: "We call them snipers.") and don't have to do everything word for word. And the actors add a lot of feeling and the moments that aren't on the page.
Aimee had to talk about why Julie is such a brat, lol. She reasoned that Julie is a teenager and the new baby came in and invaded her territory. "Oh, there's this other thing and she's smaller and cuter and more adorable than you. Not that I'm not adorable. Just kidding. Um, what was the question?"
Ausiello brought up the Mexico arc and the scene in the bar with the kissing. They weren't sure about it on the page, but it turned out so beautiful that they really liked it. I love listening to Scott talk. He gives the best answers for everything. I can't explain it. He was talking about Tim, Lyla, and Jason in such a heartfelt way. He said he would be a fan of the show even if he wasn't on it. Minka, when asked what it was like shooting the scene: "It was awesome." Lol. Later in the panel, someone slipped and said, "The scene where they're in Mexico making love." Haha, Minka and Scott were all, "Wait, what?"
Zach got to talk about the shower scene with Kyle. "It was cold." He was worried about making the scene cheesy. But said it had good angles and Kyle was there, so it was good. Lmao. He was adorable. Kind of shuffly and shy.
"We're the little show that could." They're not bitter about not getting recognized by awards. Or having their talent and producers taken away for other projects. Nuh uh. ;)
Zach used an analogy to explain how the proces of making this show is different from other projects. Is it hard to get used to. "Like, when you go to Peace Corp there's a bit of a culture shock, but the worse part is coming back to the states. I don't know. That's just me, maybe it was a really bad analogy." Lol.
The cast picked on Taylor Kitsch a bit, when Ausiello had a question asking what it was like to work with him because he's so hot. Connie said he can't keep a straight face. This comment sounded so much like Lauren Graham to me: "You'll do a scene with Taylor, like you forget that he's really cute or whatever, I don't know, maybe, they say."
The final thing before the audience Q&A, Ausiello asked Scott to do the Pop! Goes My Heart dance. Made of awesome, you guys! He's all, "New answer when anyone asked if you've had to do anything embarrassing on Friday Night Lights. Yeah, they made me do the motorcyle thrust dance."
Some more pictures during the panel.
The crowd at the stage after this panel was so much better. It was less people, and there wasn't any shoving or crushing. Connie was off to the side so we didn't get to her, but we got to take pictures of pretty much everyone else, and others got autographs. The girls are so pretty. And I'm really happy with how some of my pictures turned out. It was a much better experience.

Scott
Aimee. The second one is my favorite.
Minka
Zach
Me with Ausiello! Lol. I totally randomly screamed out to him when I remembered he was there (I got distracted by the pretty people). He probably thought I was a little crazy, but whatever. Other people came up to talk to him, too. I told him Christina and I were at the Everwood thing and that he'd posted my pictures and video.
PaleyFest sign outside, and the footballs and pins they were giving out. We were supposed to fill out a survey to get them, but they had so many that the lady was handing out more than one to each person and then started saying, "Throw the paper down, take some footballs!" Hee.
