WB Tours - Mar 16, 2006

Mar 19, 2006 09:00

Morning. I wrote this up last night, after a really long day. If it doesn't make sense lets blame it on that, lol, not on my amazing recapping skills. Again, any major type spoilers are behind white cuts (highlight them to see). If you don't want to know anything about anyone who was on the set that day or where they were filming, just skip this whole thing until episode 20 airs I guess. Heh.

I was sitting here reading my little notebook of notes, so lets see what we did on Thursday. And btw, I got plenty of teasing for always whipping this thing out and writing down random words or times, lol. No love for the notebook. Even though he benefits everyone. Pretty notebook. Anyway...

The cast:
Me
Priw
copperboom and friend
"The girls": Christina, Jo, Michelle, Heather and Vicky

Man, it was so fun. I'm so glad I was able to go down for the day and it all worked out with my finals and stuff. I don't know that I have that much more to say than what people have already heard. Was talking to everyone the day before and trying to figure out what time we were meeting. We weren't able to get a reservation for the tour so we planned to all meet at the WB as early as we could all get there. Sometime around 8am.

I got up extra early so I could head down and hopefully get there at a decent time with all of the traffic. I think everyone got there early. Heh. We were all excited! I went in and found copperboom and her friend and then we did introductions with everyone. I think I was the only one who knew who everyone in teh group was. Heh. I couldn't find Priw though. I had to call Gabi and ask for her cell number 'cause I never had it and ended up waking her up I think. But couldn't get Priw on the phone so I was freaking out. We had signed up for the 9am tour 'cause we wanted a certain tour guide. I kept calling people and pacing and getting frustrated and then 5 minutes before the tour was supposed to start Priw walks over FROM INSIDE THE BUILDING. She'd been siting over in the corner where I'd first met copperboom, but hadn't seen me and i hadn't seen her. Oy, I'm a spaz. And her phone gave no indication that I'd called like 3 times.

But we'd found her and we all went in to watch the WB movie that we've all seen before. I swear that thing gives me goosebumps. I don't know. Heh. It's just awesome. There were a bunch of people in there since they were running multiple tours at the same time. It was crazy busy. We took up the whole first row of the little theater and when the tour guides came in ours already knew who he was getting. We were the only ones on our tour which was awesome. We hopped in the cart and were on our way. We went to Stars Hollow right away to see if there was anything going on there. We rounded the corner by Luke's and the first thing we saw was the truck. I was so excited. I don't know. But I just shouted out "The truck!!!" Ha. It's just something I've never seen on any of my trips so it was very cool to see it in person. I took like 5 pictures of it too. We hopped out and walked around Stars Hollow a little. It looked like they were going to be filming down by the residential street so we stayed away from there and looked at everything else. Fun stuff. We took a group pic on the gazebo and while we were up there and our poor tour guide was trying to use 8 different cameras we saw Sherilynn Fenn (Anna) walk by and go down the residential street. She was wearing pink fuzzy slippers I think. Hee. [[ There was stuff inside of Luke's that looked like it was from April's birthday party. And some tables and lanterns over by the church that was probably for Lane's wedding. The Beaty Supply shop was all set up inside. ]]

We took off to do some other things saying we'd come back later and see if we could see anyone else. Went to the WB museum and stayed for like, 5 minutes, just to fill the requirement that we go there. I got re-sorted by the Harry Potter hat. It decided I belong in Hufflepuff now. I can't remember where I was last time. On our way to the transportation part of the lot we passed by a sign that said "Good Game" aka Lauren's production company. Awesome. Went through and saw the movie cars and took the Dukes of Hazzard pic...again. I asked our tour guide if they were ever going to get a new picture, lol. Went to the Central Perk set next and took a pic on the couch. Another moment of trying to get 8 cameras working and shot. There was actually another group in there when we showed up so we looked at the hand props a little before it was our turn.

Then we started in on the sound stages. We went to all of the GG ones. Much awesomeness. Saw Paris' apartment and the random rooms they had built in the same stage as the mansion. Then we went to the Yale stage and saw Logan's apartment, the Yale newsroom, [[ and the hospital room they were building. They were still working on it so we really only saw one room with some blue wallpaper or paint up ]]. Last stop was the Dragonfly stage. We were rushing by then though so we could get back to Stars Hollow. Heh. We went as close as we could to the residential street. [[ They were filming a scene with Lorelai and Anna at Anna's shop. The shop was set up inside of the Twickham house. We could hear them yell action and reset and stuff but couldn't get close enough to see anything. We could see stuff out on the balcony for the store, a manequin and piles of stuff. ]] Our tour time was up (sad!) so we had to head back.

Our guide was telling us what other times he would be going that day and we all kept saying we wanted to go again. So we did. Hee. We signed up for the 2:30 tour. With so many people around and them filling up the tours it wasn't likely that we'd be able to keep those 3 extra seats empty, so we did somethin' crazy. We bought out the rest of the tour. Split the extra cost between all of us and it worked out marvelously. Haha. We are so nuts. So we had some time to kill and decided to go get some food. copperboom and her friend were going to wait a little bit and try to find some glasses that were lost somewhere on the tour. The rest of us went off to see if we could leave the parking lot and get back in without having to pay again and then get food. The only place I know of nearby is Carls Jr. Of course I got us lost right away, but we got there eventually. Who knew the East Coast didn't have Carls Jr! Crazy, I tell ya. Gots food and was chatting. Then we went back to the hotel the girls were staying at. People were clearing off their cameras to have room for later. Priw was calling to try and find her rental car (it got towed!). Girl has some of the worst luck of anyone I have ever met, lol. Gotta love her.

After escaping from the worst parking lot in the history of parking lots (dude, you have to do a 50 point turn to get out of there, it felt like that Austin Powers movie with the cart in the hallway) we were on our way back to the WB. It's pretty hilarious that random tour guides and workers recognized our group. The girls had gone on the tour the day before, we'd all gone in the morning, and then we were back. Clearly, they all thought we were crazy. Add in the Stars Hollow t-shirts and they were probably ready to bring in the men with the white jackets. There was this huge group going on the tour at the same time so the theater was all filled up. We again took the very front row. And when the tour guides came in after the movie ours went like he was just going to sit with us. Heh. The guy who does the movie stuff was so nice to us, we love him too. He called us "tour guide name"'s fan club. And we were. A giggling, GG obsessed fan club. Our tour guide was just awesome. Between the time we'd last seen him and our next tour he went and did research to find other places GG had filmed since we'd seen all of the stages. Awwww. We never made it to any of those things, but still. It was sweet.

We headed straight to Stars Hollow again and stayed there for practically the whole tour. The crew was on lunch break. Guys were playing something like horseshoes around the gazebo and everyone was just hanging out. We ended up waiting a while with nothing happening, but we were afraid to leave because we knew that Lauren Graham or somebody would come by as soon as we did. We were hanging out across from Kim's Antique's. We were just randomly talking. And waiting. And everytime we heard a bike everyone would swing around and look, hoping it was Lauren, lol. Dude, our tour guide thought we were in high school. Like, 14 years old (the girls at least, lol). It was pretty funny. We're like, "Um, no, we're all in college." I know I act immature, but that's just because it's fun. While we were over there Jo had a spaz attack. I didn't even see what happened, but looked over when she was doubled over and laughing her ass off. Something about swinging her badge around, or a bug in her eye, or smacking herself in the head. No idea. But it was hilarious. And I added it to the notebook as "3:11 Jo has a seizure." We eventually made our way over to the Gazebo to sit and hang out. Everyone had their eyes peeled so we could spot anyone coming by.

The crew went to work bringing things over to the shop side of town, right across from the Gazebo. [[They were setting up at the Beauty Supply store. And we kept seeing girls about 12 and 13 walking around, they were part of April's birthday party.]] And then lo and behold, down the street on the Weston's side of the high school comes Lauren Graham on her bike. Squeee! She was looking at her phone while riding and wearing one of the long blue jackets the show has. Of course we were all very excited. She went to the shop and some of the girls gave her hugs and the crew was singing happy birthday to her inside. Someone handed her a couple of balloons. Don't know if they were for her birthday or the scene they were going to rehearse. We all shimmied over to the steps of the gazebo and sat down. I'm sure we made such an image, a bunch of giggly girls sitting on the steps squashed together. We were all just hoping no one would make us move. We were sitting there (I think maybe Lauren had gone inside? I don't remember) when Scott Patterson rode up. Squeeeex1000! I swear, you could feel the giddiness, lol. He's so very good looking. And he was so close, yet so far away. We saw Vanessa Marano come over too, wearing a blue jacket just like Lauren's. I remember seeing Scott and Vanessa share a little side hug.

I wrote down that at 3:36 Scott waved at us, lol. We were dying for both he and Lauren to look over and notice our little crazy group staking out the gazebo. Finally he did, and we all waved back enthusiastically but in a small fashion. Thrilling, lol. He got Vanessa and some of the other girls to wave at us too. Lauren, unfortunately, never really looked over. Despite all of our telepathy begging her to. We wanted to wish her a happy birthday, but passed on the message to a security guard in case she saw her again. We were also mentally begging Scott to come over and say hi. But alas, our powers were not working well that day. After they rehearsed [[ going into the Beauty Supply store and did some stuff inside that we couldn't really see,]] Lauren came out and was talking to some people who were around. Scott too. And then he was on his phone and rode away. I know I cried a little inside. Hate to see him go, but love to watch him leave. Lauren rode off too, and we all stared in that direction for a last glimpse of the blue coat.

We sat around a while longer, hoping they'd come back. While we were there, [[ the crew was over filming something by Luke's. I think the truck was still over there and they'd put on the CT license plate. We saw extras walking down the sidewalk and then come back and do it again. They went a few times. Not sure if any of the cast was there or if they were just doing some background thing. It was done pretty quick. ]] Then they were bringing the camera over to the shop and were putting up lights and things. Every time someone would look towards us or walk by I'd get nervous that they were going to make us leave. Heh. We'd be all "Act cool! We belong! Don't look at them!" No one said anything. It was great. And everyone was so nice. We talked to this one security guard like 5 times during the day. And this one guy who was moving stuff around came over and said that if we were going to be watching the show we needed some popcorn and he handed me this thing of caramel popcorn. We "awwww"d so loud. It was so sweet. So we were just chillin on the steps of the gazebo eating popcorn. Awesome moment. And another guy walked by and was like, "Getting an idea of how fast things move around here?" after we'd been there forever just watching the random people work and set things up. I know it would bore some people, but I'm just all fascinated by everything. I could sit in Stars Hollow and watch people all day. I absolutely love it. I'm weird. And it's all a novelty to me, since I'll never do anything like it for work and get worn out and bored. It's always fun and exciting.

We saw Scott ride back over once and ask someone something, but then he left again. Someone did come ask us to move from the gazebo 'cause we were in the way of the shot they were going to do, but they didn't make us leave! Just move over to the side. It was getting cold and we were running out of time, and Lauren and Scott never came back over. And a bunch of other tours started coming into the square (psh, we claimed the square, people, go away!) so we left and went back to the Dragonfly Inn again to look for the missing glasses (never did find them). Earlier someone had noticed that there were a couple of script pages taped to the computer monitor at the reception desk, but I never saw them. So while we were in there again I was reading them out loud and we all huddled around. I tried to right down what I could remember when we got back to the tram or car or somewhere. I don't remember when it was. It was [[ a phone call between Luke and Lorelai. Luke calling from April's party at the Diner. Something about him sneaking into the storage room a lot and then Lorelai says she'll come over. ]]

And so ended our second WB tour of the day. Wheeeeeeee.

The taping of The Class (or what we thought was going to be a taping) was supposed to start at 6:30, so we were supposed to be there before 5, but because of the second tour we didn't make it over to the other parking lot until right around 5. There were already a ton of people there. We waited to get checked in and I remember the dude writing 5:15 on whoever was first in our group (me and the girls, Priw had to go get her car). They kept taking people from the other side across the street to go onto the lot and then took a group from our side but the guy hadn't finished checking us all in so we didn't make that group. Sucks, 'cause they never took more people from our side and we were at the very front of the last group and never made it in. We stood around for over an hour waiting. And then they come out and tell us that it wasn't even a taping but just a run through that was probably only going to be 45 minutes. Psh. We would't have waited as long if we'd known that. Disappointing on all accounts. But Christina got a little ticket that means we can be VIPs next time we try to go to a taping.

So we left and went searching for somewhere to eat. I had no idea where to go. Neither did Christina. So we just headed to the right and were driving. Heh. When we passed a freeway and started heading along side it I finally recognized where we were and we ended up at the Kodak Theater. We went to California Pizza Kitchen to eat dinner. Had to wait a few minutes for a table so we took some pics on the giant fake lounge that's right infront of it and then Jo and Michelle were dancing and entertaining all of the people eating outdoors I'm sure. It was hilarious. Had dinner, made some phone posts, then went down to Graumen's Chinese theater. It's so funny, I had never been down to Hollywood and done any of the theater things before and now since December I've been there 3 times.

I took off shortly after that so I could get home before it was too late. Found my way to the freeway and everything. I so good. There was no traffic at all until I got to Palmdale. They were doing some work and had the freeway down to one lane at Avenue S. Resulted in it taking me 30 minutes to go two miles. The cars were backed up past the vista point and brealy moving. Crazy.

So that was Thursday in a nutshell. A very big, detaily nutshell. Hope the read was worth it.
