"This is my principal objection to life, I think: It is too easy, when alive, to make perfectly horrible mistakes." - Kurt Vonnegut 1922-2007
Kurt Vonnegut has come unstuck in time.
So it goes.
He taught me a lot over the years. He taught me that the purpose of human life is to be the eyes ears and conscience of the creator of the universe. Whether or not such a creator exists is actually moot.
I met him once. Shook his hand. He was pretty much what one would expect: a crotchety old bugger with a mind as big as the sea, doomed to always be surrounded by people who would never be his equal. I still have my autographed copy of Cat's Cradle. I think I always will, until I pass it along to Nathaniel.
Oh, by the way, my son's name is Nathaniel. Nathaniel Grey. He's due in a little less than a month, but we're expecting him somewhat sooner.
Hooray!
