 New season, new tweaks. This one's pretty good. They got it down to 24 (12 m, 12 f) and let America vote. They picked the top 5 of each (m/f), which left 2 spaces for the top 12, and the judges got to pick those. So of the remaining 14, the judges asked 6 people to "sing for their lives" and then they chose from among that group. And in the end, they chose 3 of the 6, so it's a top 13. But they'll probably lose 3 people the 1st week, just like last year when the judges got to add a surprise 13th person.
