2010 Story Summaries

Jul 20, 2010 13:39

We started with 13 stories. Six writers dropped out, and I'm missing summaries from three others. But here are the four that have been turned in so far. Keep an eye on this post as I track down and add the others.

Artists, we've now come to your end of the deal. Under the cut, you'll find summaries of all the stories that will be posted in September. Peruse the choices and in the comments choose which one you want (you only have to list the title and the author). First come, first served.

Once chosen, I'll e-mail the story to you. When you get it, read the story, and create your artwork. You're not limited on what you can create - it can be a dustjacket, fanart, a drawing, even a fanmix. You can even do more than one if you're so inclined.

Also, if you have a question about the story, send it to me at unfulfilledpotential@gmail.com, and I'll pass it along to the writer. That way, the writer can be surprised on reveal day, too.

All artwork must be finished by September 1. When you finish, send it to unfulfilledpotential@gmail.com.

Now, choose your favorite story.

1) Title: Summer in Boston
Fandom: Fake News
Type: Slash
Pairing: J Stewart / "S" Colbert
Genderbended Character and Her/His Face: Jon Stewart as cis-girl Joan, and "Stephen" Colbert as cis-girl "Stephanie". They basically look like themselves, with softer-defined facial features. We describe their hair in-text but Joan has short curly hair and Stephanie has shoulder-length wavy hair.
Summary: After Stephanie is kicked out of her home, she and Joan go to Boston to get married, leaving a note behind for the Leibowitzes. Though Joan thinks it's a bad idea, Stephanie tells her family, and her mother sends a sibling to bring her home. Joan has to convince Stephanie to stay. - sailorptah

2) Title: Burden of Choice
Fandom: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Type: Gen
Genderbended Character and Her/His Face: Data: Zooey Deschanel and Wesley Crusher=Leslie Crusher: Dianna Agron
Summary: Exploration of the relationship between Leslie Crusher and Data: Facing the aftermath of a near fatal rescue, Leslie Crusher considers whether she really wants to join Starfleet. - optimouse

3) Title: Eyes on Fire
Fandom: The Covenant
Type: Het/Slash... it's a girl and a boy, but the girl is only a girl through magic and is still mentally male
Pairing: Chase/Caleb
Genderbended Character and Her/His Face: Chase Collins, girl!Chase looks like Jeisa Chiminazzo.
Summary: Chase "comes back from the dead" a month after the battle with Caleb at the Putnam barn, and finds that he has been declared dead and is considered a hero because of the surprisingly favourable lies the Covenant told about him. Still furious, he decides that keeping himself from aging is no longer the point, and the point is instead making Caleb pay for what he did to him, so he uses to make himself into a girl with the goal of seducing Caleb away from Sarah, making him fall in love with him, then destroying him utterly. He decides that the best way is to make Caleb love him, then shatter him and the Covenant by outting them as witches to the whole town - only when he does, he's shocked to discover that the town of Ipswich isn't as surprised by this revelation as he would have thought. - b_dsaint

4) Title: Table For Five
Fandom: Marvel Comics - Exiles
Type: M / F & F / F
Pairing(s): Morph / Sunfire, Blink / Mimic
GB'd Character(s) & Faces:

Blink - Face is about the same, but squared.
Mimic - Minus the beard.
Morph - Looks exactly the same. (He feels female, or so he says.)
Nocturne - Looks like a long-haired Nightcrawler, who is her father, anyway.
Sasquatch - Looks the same in beast form, but male in human form.
Sunfire - Unchanged. :-)

Summary: The Exiles, a team of reality-jumping heroes gathered from different versions of the Marvel Universe, experience a glitch in jumping to their next mission, resulting in (almost) everybody arriving as the opposite gender. Informed by their handler, the Timebroker, that they are going to have a little down time while he - also rendered a she by the error - tries to fix the problem, they decide that they might as well make the best of their mini-vacation. For the characters who have unresolved feelings between them (see Pairings), this creates a fascinating situation.

This story uses the following version of the Exiles team. - beanarie
