As part of the rehabilitation from the injury, I was encouraged to pick up something safe that would get me out and being active. After all, bone growth is stimulated by mechanical loading. My finances are slowly recovering after having been decimated - not in the literal sense of the word, since it was much greater than 10%. For those of you following at home, I've finished the boat. It's very lovely, and floats great. I took it out last week to test it in a shallow pond, and this morning I did a paddle up and down a portion of the Chena River. I fled Thursday afternoon, with the smoke so thick you couldn't see more than 100m or so. Took the half of the day off as a sick day. Drove down to the copper river, and spent the next couple of days dipnetting. But the river was really high, and catch was low. Ended up helping someone move a fishwheel.
