Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, o fellow US-Americans! (To the Canadians, Europeans, Australians, Asians, etc on my flist -- uh, I hope you're having a lovely Thursday, unless it's already Friday for you!)

The turkey has been in the oven for the past three hours or so, and will remain a while longer, while we make the assorted sides and stuff. (And the quiche for the vegetarian main dish, but I do eat meat when it's local and free-range and so forth, and the turkey we buy from one of Dad's church friends certainly counts.) We're in the lazy stage of things, where we sit around in the living room with a fire going, and alternate between watching a football game and watching the big dog show, switching every time one has a commercial break. Or, in my case, ignoring the tv in favor of my laptop.

Things I am grateful for include getting home safely -- there were adventures with a previously hit moose in the road, which made for a NICE ADRENALINE DUMP, let me tell you, and also led to my car having to be winched out of a muddy ditch by a colorful New Hampshire tow guy. (The entertaining and competent kind of colorful! but now I know all about his mechanic friend's troubles with heroin.) But I'm fine, Sandry's fine, and even the car's fine, so I have zero complaints with how this turned out. The moose was not fine, poor thing, but that was true before I ever came along. And New Hampshire proved itself to be full of good Samaritans; we must have assured twenty separate people that we were fine and didn't need any help before the police and the tow truck came along.

Now I'm going to go warm my toes by the fire -- my parents live in a big drafty farmhouse, and we've always kept the thermostat relatively low, which means I'm mildly confused by houses where you don't wear a wool sweater all fall and winter -- and see if I can lure my parents' cat in for scritches, and maybe have some more tea and poke at Yuletide ideas before I go boil potatoes. I hope you're all having at least as lovely a day as I am!

(Oh, and PS -- if you were following fma_ladyfest, or if it's in any way relevant to your interests, please note that the Prompts List is up! If you want ideas for FMA fic or art involving ladies, take a wander over sometime and see if something catches your fancy. And if you participated, it's not too late to tell us to add your prompts to the list, if you like.)
