This post is entirely Becca's fault.

As some of you know, I have recently fallen head-first into gleeful fannishness for the new Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime. (I am reading my way slowly through, and adoring, the manga it's based on. The old anime I have seen only a couple of episodes of, and that years ago. I'll probably get around to it someday, but from what I've heard ( Read more... )

Also I must say that Brotherhood is 9001% funnier for me because I have seen Gundam 00. The voice actor mix-and-match is an absolute riot.

Ahahahaha oh DEAR. That's one I haven't seen yet, but I know that Six Degrees Of Voice Acting is a tremendously entertaining game to play.

Let's see, off the top of my head:

Kimblee the bloodthirsty maniac <--> (H)Allelujah Haptism, the self-effacing supersoldier whose alternate personality is a bloodthirsty maniac
Edward Elric <--> Regene Regetta, morally and sexually ambiguous nominal bad guy
Roy Mustang <--> Lockon Stratos, for whom half the fandom is gay

Ohgod. If only I could find my old DVD+Rs of the original anime; I'm pretty sure this would all apply.

Becca and I are pretty sure we made bingo with last night's episode. I kind of expect that to be true every week.

(Also, I would so do that. *giggling*)

I think I might have seen the first episode of that last week on Cartoon Network. I was totally confused, because it was totally different from the first episode of the FMA I know and love, but was still awesomesauce. Now I want more. Where do I get more?

*cough*

It might be all up streaming on funimation.com! And also on Hulu. :D

(Hulu is a couple weeks behind the current airing, for the record. Funimation is the first place new subtitle episodes come out, so far as I know. It's an ongoing series, and the new episodes air on Sunday in Japan and are up on Funimation with subtitles by Thursday. Hulu takes a week or two to catch up.)

Yeah, and I really like all the new seiyuu! I don't have any old associations to confuse me, of course.

I don't really blame the old anime for the plot divergence; it's not as if they had the full manga to follow. And I've heard it's good! But from all I've heard, the new one is mostly better, and certainly sounds more tailored to my interests. *grin*
