I did my THING yesterday.
That THING, that I have been avoiding
(successfully!)
for 2 years? 3 years?
A long time.
An overlong time.
YAY ME!
I pretended I "earned" the boots I bought
during that fit of,
"I don't wanna do that ONE THING,
I will go online shopping instead!"
snafu.
Today is Thanksgiving and its 6am
so obviously I am up and cookin'.
YOU WILL LOVE MY MEAT!
Mom MAY come.
She's *like* that.
She told me how her next-compound-over neighbor/mountainman
invited her over for freshly hunted duck
and told her the sad tale why his paid-for Chinese Bride left,
(his son's attempt to murder him in front of her,
last summer really freaked her out?)
but not to worry, he had a 20 yr old Filipino bride coming soon
to replace her,
and then proceeded to invite my mom over to
"stay the night".
My mom is 69, he is 74.
She accidentally barked laughter in his face,
told him "good luck with the new wife!"
and sauntered away from his off-grid pig farm
because NORTH IDAHO is a THING!
So, mom MAY come to Thanksgiving.
We invited over Sailor's brother and his family,
who are in a weird limbo
but as soon as they accepted,
most of the kids got sick.
Hmmm,.. ok.
I do NOT feel guilty
that I feel relief
of pressure
to clean the house.
6 guests, all "maybe's"
CHECK.
I appreciate that Sailor's family
is as "blah" about holidays
as my family.
HALLOWEEN is my jam.
All else
is just
dust in the wind,
dude.
TO THE ROAST!
