I thought my life was supposed to be like your idea of Being 24. I will join you in the lawsuit. Or, at the very least, hoot and hollar from the audience until I am dragged out of the room.
I was talking with a girl at my work (er, when I worked at Target) who has two children already, and is probably my age (and not married). And I was saying that I never, ever wanted kids, since I am terrible with them. And she said, "Things don't always work out that way" And then I felt like yelling "I DON'T HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX! I DON'T HAVE SEX PERIOD! OH MY GOD HELP ME FIND SEX?!?!" but I didn't want to be an asshole. Maybe we should put Planned Parenthoods on every corner. And maybe some "interview to be Lauren's potential sex partner" stands next to them?
That speech is awesome. I've never been asked that kind of thing, but I would have a similar reaction, but probably not actually say it all out loud. You're my hero.

Everyone there is a nerd. They all love history, videogames, computers, 70's and 80s rock/newwave and other nerdy pursuits.
Ever seen AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" played on rennaissance guitar in a group singalong around a fire as a fifth of rum is being passed around the circle one way, a fifth of irish cream being passed the other while everyone tries to enjoy the song and sing along for the chorus but talk about WoW inbetween? THAT is an SCA event... o, and picture a couple having really loud sex in a tent nearby while a drunk person walking by tells them to "shut the hell up" because "other people are trying to fuck, too ya know!" and immediately pukes!
It may sound stupid to be so excited about dressing up in costumes and going camping...
But,.. its the nerd comraderie thats so much fun!
My friend Mark lives in the LA area and goes to some kick ass Rennaisance faires... He may be 6'3" and a bouncer at a strip club, but he is the hugest nerd ever with his signed Bruce Campbell memoribilia and observation of Talk Like a Pirate Day. Hehe
