Annnnnd It's Done.

Yesterday was my summer capstone.

All the planning, scheduling, organizing,
detail-taking, detail-making, detail-tracking
contact lists, meetings
and THOUSANDS of emails
calls, and texts...

... have done
what they were supposed to do.

At peak we probably had 500 people,
easily 700-900 came through.

The best compliments always come from strangers,
don't you think?

A couple came from the apartments across the street,
"They almost always have music all summer
on Friday and Saturday nights,
but to be frank... it usually SUCKS!
We literally just close our windows
and turn up the TV, to be honest.
But, whatever band this is? They are AWESOME! Wow!
We just had to come down and SEE the show!
We didn't just want to hear it,
we wanted to see what these cats were DOING!
And WOW! They are SO good!!"

That's just what I was going for.

I've come to see free music,
but what I got was A Show!

I was going to emcee..
but then my mouth fell out
four days before
and I had no more heart left
to try and double-gun my charm
through the rubble of my mouth
with a microphone.

So... I just ran the show, instead.
The machine I'd set up
ran great.

I was responsible for everything that happened on the stage.
Organizing the venue, the crews, the bands, and all the collective gear it takes
to setup, power, light, and amplify the staged everythings.

Fire jugglers arrived without warning after dark!

What more can you ask for?

All I know?
It's done.
I've been talking about building up the reserve
to get through the last 6 weeks...
and I did it.
It all happened...
because I arranged it to.
And now I can sit back
and take a breath
before I spend the next 5 months
planning the winter version.

And also planning
how to afford a new NEW smile.
Again.

But today?
I can just sit
(and write)
and breathe.

love, work, concerts, music, planning
