Justin is so sweet, he texted me early this week and asked me to make Karen a cake for her birthday. I already had three cakes to make this week, but of course, I wanted to do this!

He insisted on paying me more than I asked, so I insisted on making it a ridiculously monstrously large cake. I think that's fair. Besides, you know me, I like to keep things to scale.

His idea was great!
This is Karen's bike:

So this was Karen's cake:

Her favorite cakes are red velvet and confetti. So... one wheel was red velvet, one wheel was confetti and the top section was a layer of each stacked on top of each other. It was awesome. I brought it to the bar around 6 yesterday when I got off work. Then we all arrived around 8. I was wondering how Justin would lure her to the bar, but I guess he actually just asked her where she wanted to go... and she said Blind Bob's! hah!! What are the chances she'd actually pick the location of her own surprise party! So funny. He said "Well, this is easier than I thought!" lol
Anyway, we all ate and then once the plates had been cleared, I ran in back for the cake. Which didn't seem weird. I work there and all, so everyone expects me to hang out with the staff lol. Drew, the bartender thought he had some candles. He found two and I poked them in the center of the wheels, lit them and snuck up behind the table singing happy birthday. Everyone sang and the whole restaurant clapped. It was adorable.
Hef took a bite of the seat, against my advisement that black food color tastes terrible. hahaha... just because something IS edible, doesn't mean you should eat it lol.

As usual, Brian wanted to leave early. He wanted to go swimming at Bird's. It was pretty fun, but I always feel lame running out early on parties! It's like a signature Brian Whitten move though.

I have been very busy this week. I made some other cakes. These two for example:

A birthday cake set for a child's birthday. Small cake just for the kid to smash, based on their blankie. I might add the arms. I think I have a bit of fondant left and maybe a little time left after I get home before they pick it up. The cake inside is chocolate and strawberry zebra stripe. I assume it will be delicious. I'm a little jealous haha.
The heads are made of rice crispy treats and covered with fondant. I love them.

I've got one more cake at home I finished up last night and don't have a photo of yet. I had to make a ton of red fondant roses. I thought my fingers were going to fall off. Then I had this brilliant idea to re-ice the top tier last night at like one am. Could have been a disaster, but it turned out. So whatever. I wasn't suuuper happy with the frosting on the top tier. I wish I could just do fondant on every cake. I sort of suck at butter cream some times lol. Oh well, I'm my worst critic!! I am happy with the entire top tier. She's picking it up tomorrow, so I still have time to totally change things around if I really want to hahahaha.

I've been super tired all week. I hope I can get some sleep tonight.
