I got this new Hello Kitty bento box. I like the sliding compartment spacer, but my old one that I lost was a stacked bento box with two tiers. Boo. I miss it.
Thin sliced chicken, little bread slices wrapped in wax paper and strawberries. Mhm. I also brought a little cup of strawberry banana yogurt. I think it's a spring-like lunch...
And this is my first attempt at a gum paste rose. Painted it with food color. Still wet in the photo. Im going to try tinting the gum paste next time instead. The shape's not bad though.
Im going to attempt my first cake soon. Maybe wednesday. Im going to make a dark chocolate cake, maybe with a chocolate ganash filling, with a smooth butter cream icing, decorated with gum-paste florals and some sort of piping.
I got a 20% off cupon from Michael's so the next time I go, I want to find myself something nice. I'd like to take advantage of the cupon! I might get myself a cake turn table and some gum paste molding tools. I need some royal icing too. And all my fondant supplies.
Yesterday I got supplies on the cheap. I bought two round pans and two square pans at a discount shop. They're cheap as hell, and they won't last, but it's just a start. I got cooling racks, a pizza cutter (for fondant) and a display platter there too.
Then at michael's I got a cake leveler, three icing tips, a package of parchment triangles, two small paint brushes, pink and green gel coloring, gum paste, buttercream and floral nails.
In all I spent less than $40 total and I have just enough stuff to get started.
I can't wait to get my hands dirty.
Now I just need this:
