wildlife and life

Zelda. She came with the name of Zora, which didn't seem to fit. I fleetingly considered Zoe but dismissed it. I thought about going for something ethnic sounding, but... Zelda. Yeah. That works. She is primarily charcoal with some faint and very sparse brushes of brown along her back; her chin is white, and there is a thin line of that down her throat. She is fairly big for a female and runs somewhat fat, though I imagine some physical activity and time out of a cage will help. She is playful, mellow, and willing to snuggle. She has been settling in quite nicely, and she only takes a little while to warm up to people. The claws are only a nuisance because she is endlessly fascinated and totally engrossed with my One Ring necklace.

I got some really endearing photographs of her, but I'll have to wait until I find the USB cord for the camera. I might take a few quick snapshots with the cellphone, now that I finally found it. (It was in the car, of course. It must have slid out of my jacket pocket. I only just finally this morning noticed it was in the slot on my door.)

You know how I said cats and animals were out of the question? Heh.

Speaking of animals: I can has wildlife? Apparently. I was chilling on my couch the other day, gazing vaguely out the screen door, when three turkeys wandered from one side to the other, calm as you please. I went o.O I'm reminded that, you know, dinosaurs evolving into birds? I can totally wrap my head around turkeys being lizards in a former life because they are some uuuuugly motherfuckers. (The only time I recall looking at one up close and personal was the time I went to visit equivocally_me in Richmond and we wandered around the not-a-zoo.)

I saw Watchmen and liked it though I was not fanatically excited by it. Anyone would have been hard-pressed to make a more faithful adaptation, lifted in large part directly from the graphic novel, images and dialog alike. The reworked ending suited and made sense -- and I might be stoned for saying this -- more than the original.

Apart from probably going back to IKEA in the next day or so to pick up a couple bookshelves (Roomful Express finally delivered the fourth chair to my dinette set and my TV stand, so my TV isn't setting on a large, plastic bin any longer), I am going to stop hemorrhaging money and hunker back down again for the duration. I paid off my car insurance for the year and quite a large chunk of the car itself.

Tonight is a night off, and I need to be massively productive so that I can spend next Saturday guiltlessly carousing.
