Hands On
FF7
R for language and sexual implications
Reno character piece.
Implied Reno/Rude. Before Crisis setting, slightly funny, on Reno and hands and things that inexplicably wind up where they probably shouldn’t be. Thievery, slander, and sex involved. Short piece.
620 Words

Reno doesn’t bother to hide his hands or button up his shirt, and if he stripped his pants off right here in the middle of the meeting and began jacking off, Rude wouldn’t blink. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s seen Reno do it or the last time Reno did the wrong thing at the worst time.

Tseng continues to debrief, composed and in command. Elena’s playing good and sits in rapt attention and since Reno’s only tapping the table impatiently and trying to molest Rude under the table with his free hand and foot without getting maimed, the briefing finishes in relative tranquility.

People tend not to focus on Turks too hard in hallways in case they attract their attention, and if Rude is Reno’s shadow or Reno is Rude’s, no one thinks about it too hard because neither is fun when they’re pissed. Because the Turks are the President’s favorite, no one can really throw them out when they wander in on meetings or offices uninvited, or complain too hard when Reno is inexplicably found in a ventilation shaft above the women’s bathroom, predictably drunk.

Since it’s possible General Sephiroth really will throw them out the fifty-eighth window, even Reno doesn’t wind up at his office too often. He makes up for it by assaulting and flirting with the General’s straight second-in-command, and Zack eventually learns not to have anything important in his pockets when he goes drinking or is in a crowd in the hallways or elevators because Reno has a habit of miraculously appearing next to him at the worst moment.

Since no one ever watches Reno’s hands because they’re too busy watching his eyes or mouth or the way his shirt’s never really on or being insulted or blackmailed with things that are true and things that aren’t, no one notices.

Except Tseng-who asked him politely not to do it again and took the safety off his automatic for emphasis-and Rude, who watches where most people don’t, and Elena, who Reno told to embarrass her.

Reno walks out, daily, with a small fortune of information, secrets, and blackmail because he has a habit of touching everything. He puts his hands on Scarlet’s desk while they bitch politely and Reno almost but not quite sticks his face inside her cleavage and on Reeve’s desk while the man’s trying to concentrate on Reno’s slander and Rude looming in the doorway at the same time and Heidigger’s and Palmer’s and while he never picks anything up when takes his hands away, documents, notes, and petty cash still miraculously appear in his pockets by magic.

Pictures of most of the higher-ups in various states of nudity or in rather compromising positions with other higher-ups or subordinates materialize inside the ill-fitting material of Reno’s clothing seemingly by accident, and Rude eventually refuses to see anything that has Heidegger in it. He doesn’t ask how Reno got a pair of Scarlet’s panties, and Elena’s the one forced to listen to the whole story, complete with hand gestures.

Every room-that exists officially for official people-has video cameras installed, but if Reno’s ever been caught on tape, it’s either been altered or disappeared or the person in question suddenly stops asking or never officially complained to begin with, so it doesn’t matter.

No one ever watches Reno’s hands, except when they’re wiring a bomb or on his nightstick or doing something obviously dangerous. The few times he catches Rude staring impassively, Reno only smiles and asks if he’s got any lube or lotion on him and if he wants to have sex, there’s a closet right down the hallway. With carpet, even, and that explains just about everything.
