When I'm all grown up, I want to be like:
- Cat Grant &
- Diane Lockhart &
- Alex Danvers &
- Lyla Michaels &
- Elizabeth Weir &
- Sam Carter &
- Jessica Pearson
But seriously: as I am currently watching Supergirl on Netflix, I have realized how grateful I am for television for giving us women in their 30s and beyond who are successful, who know what they want, who know who they are, who know what it means to be a woman in this world, who show emotion, who make decisions and mistakes and own up to them and who are no one's bitch. For someone in the slump like I am currently - feeling like at 35 I have accomplished exactly zero (which, on closer examination isn't actually true but I guess you all still know the feeling, don't you?) and will never really accomplish anything at all - that's actually pretty reassuring and inspiring. So, thank you, television!
On that note: why hasn't anyone yet written a fic with Alex Danvers and Lyla Michaels meeting and fighting over jurisdictions while putting bad guys away? Because that would make a hell of a story. Do I have to write everything myself?
