Obligatory Star Wars flail post.

Originally, I'd wanted to post something about the new TFA trailer last night but then I realized I didn't have a Star Wars icon and ended up spending 2 1/2 hours on looking for fitting pictures and fiddling with image resizing and textures and stuff and then it was 0300 and I decided that it was about time to go to bed after all.

Anyway. By now I must have seen that trailer like five times which still makes me a bad Star Wars fan because it should have been like ten times, honestly. Ten times would definitely be deserved, too since whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Yes, I'm still looking forward to Rogue One more than to The Force Awakens but man, that was my kind of trailer! I loved it (even the fact that JJ Abrams managed to sneak a lens flare into it...) and I'm feeling anticipation tingling a bit more than before. I'm still trying to be very, very cautious about The Force Awakens because I don't think I could stomach another disappointment like the one after the release of the last Avengers movie. Or Episode I, for that matter.

What I loved most, I think, is that it looked like Star Wars again, thanks to real sets and all that jazz. I still have no idea about the story and the whole thing raised more questions than it answered (we'll come to that later) but the whole look of it is what made me so ecstatic. I still miss the Legacy EU, and I'll continue writing all my existing series in that setting (which means mostly Jenna's War) because apparently since reading Lost Stars, my head seems to have decided that the "new" EU is the alternate version and the Legacy EU is the actual canon (since apparently, I just can't wrap my head around a Rebellion Era Empire that doesn't hate women and non-humans...) version of events but I guess that's okay?

All in all, no, the trailer didn't answer at least one of the questions I have about The Force Awakens but then again, a trailer isn't supposed to do that, anyway. I still have no idea how the new Big Three will eventually come together, how their dynamic will be, what Poe Dameron's role is in all of this (since his screentime in the trailer was minimal - does that mean his role will be smaller than Rey's and Finn's, does that mean that his story involves too much of one or more of the original Big Three, WHAT DOES IT MEAN???), if I will ever be able to take Kylo Ren seriously (Adam Driver looks way too much like Bandibrooks Cobblewobble for me, and I just can't take that guy seriously, at all) and where this will all lead. I have, however, plot bunnies hopping around here thanks to the, like, microsecond of a torture scene we saw in the trailer*. Thanks for that.

So, yeah. What do you guys think?

*something about introspection and nightmares and late night conversations between Poe and either Rey or Finn or possibly both. Don't worry, I'm sure those bunnies will be gone as soon as I've seen the entire movie and have the right context for possible fic *rolls eyes

fandom: star wars, obsession of the week, crazy hazy hue, big pile of squee, fannish stuff, plot bunnies
