Yesterday, we had the annual Master's programme summer barbecue and I came home at 0330 and had too get up today at 0830 for my weekly riding lesson but I actually wanted to post food not talk about sports, so... I made food for the barbecue buffet (as did 38241041014 other people... seriously, we had a fucking shit ton of food O_o) and here's what I made.
Cream cheese biscuits (which were actually more rolls of some kind) with thyme from Cynthia Barcomi's newest book,
Let's Bake, and they were awesome:
Also, redcurrant buttermilk tart (it's originally a blueberry buttermilk tart but it works with all berries) from Annik Wecker and Alfons Schuhbeck's book
Raffinierte Tartes:
The tart tasted awesome but I messed up the crust somehow because it was not crunchy at all, just soft and squishy. However, the buttermilk and cream filling worked great with the currants and it was a good counterpoint to all the meat and the barbecue sauce and all the salats and stuff. I really should do more baking. Baking is awesome :D
Maybe I'll even learn to cook one day :P
