Some Kind of Wonderful
Today has been an absolutely awesome day, for the following reasons:
1) I got spices and batteries from Ginmar--a huge big treasure box filled with cinnamon, chopped garlic, AAA batteries, red pepper and the like. So many spices, and I cannot WAIT to start experimenting with all of them! Thank you so much, Gin!
2) I got a tax refund check in the mail! Yay!
3) Thanks to watching A Game of Thrones last night on HBO, I learned about a wonderful phenomenon called HBO GO, which comes with your HBO subscription. With HBO GO, you can watch HBO anywhere--desktop, laptop, mobile.
Now, my problem with TV is that while I can remember when shows are on, it's not unusual for me to fall asleep several hours before the show and then to wake two or three hours after it aired. And then, unless I can watch the rerun--if there is one--I'm out of luck.
But with HBO GO, I can watch whole series (some of which I did not know were on HBO) and movies and whatnot whenever I feel up to watching. It's TV at my convenience--with no downloads that may or may not come with viruses and/or vicious malware, with no need to fight with the website because I'm from the wrong country (http://www.bbc.co.uk, I'm looking at YOU), and with no additional costs tacked on.
Maybe this sort of thing is old news to a lot of people, but a TV channel realizing that Internet viewing is actually a viable market AND making such viewing accessible has been an impossible dream of mine for years.
I am very, very happy. *squee*
The one fly in the ointment is that I think that LJ is getting DDoS'ed again...that, or it's become impossibly sluggish. For the past week, it's been taking five to ten minutes for LJ to load, never mind post. And sometimes it doesn't even do that. That is why I am posting over here at Dreamwidth.
