Went to the hospital yesterday--thanks to the wound on my leg. They don't think that the wound is infected (though they took a culture anyway), but it's not healing well due to the fact that it's leaking stupid acidic lymphatic fluid. (I knew that; there isn't much I can do about it.) I'm also having a MRSA flare-up, which is common for me but annoying, and which has been causing the equally unnecessary bouts of disorienting dizziness and moderate fever I've been dealing with of late. And by "of late" I mean "since late June." It's an antibiotic-resistant bug anyway, and since doctors are inclined to prescribe more antibiotics to get the flare-ups to subside...yeah. I don't need it becoming more resistant.
The doctors did approve of the Kotex bandages. Not so the Bacitracin, which they said was drying up the wound on the leg. (I knew it was drying the wound out, but given the alternative--acid leaking from the wound and burning both the flesh in the wound and my skin--I was all in favor of the wound drying up and not hurting as much.) They had other medicines in mind...which I have no objection to and which I will be picking up this morning at the drugstore. It's just that most of the drugs are prescription; they weren't available to me last week when I called for an appointment.
So I shall be trotting off around nine to get the prescriptions and whatnot--and find out what I can use if the drugstore doesn't have what I need in stock.
This has been an expensive couple of weeks, healthwise. And it's not over yet. *sigh*
