Today I bought a jewelry box and shoved a lot of things that were randomly laying around into it. My room looks a bit more bare. That was the whole idea because the space will be needed for other things soon but for now it's just looking a little empty.
Next thing to attack are dresser drawers, a closet, and a wardrobe. I have too many clothes. The problem is that I have a hard time deciding which ones to get rid of because I really like some of them even if I only wear them once a year or so. However the math is the same as for the jewelry - the space will be needed for other clothes so I have to cull the collection. I know I have some sweaters I can part with and they take up a lot of space. I can also get rid of a pair of jeans or three. The rest - I dunno - I retired a rather large number of old t-shirts last year and I don't have that many long sleeved ones outside of turtlenecks, which I wear primarily to work in the colder months. And you know how you have to have some nice clothes and some grungy ones... I just can't make these decisions that easily. sigh.
The interesting thing about the jewelry is that I ran across the rings I usually wear but removed a few months ago when I was doing all the painting. I hadn't put them back on yet. So I am now wearing them again. Maybe something similar will occur with some of the nice clothes as I have a tendency to the grungy stuff I don't need to worry about messing up. Among other things I now I feel like I have a reason to dress a little more girly when I am around the house so maybe now I can get around to wearing some of them more then once a year (and thereby justify finding the space to keep them!).
