First things first: Is there a holiday today that no one told me about? There is a band warming up next door and they have one of those inflatable kids jumpy houses that make me jealous of kids. This wouldn't be weird by itself because our neighbor is given to throwing lavish parties for his kids, but another house down the street also has an inflatable jumpy house and a third house had a bunch of pinatas hung up and ready to go. Its a conspiracy!
This was a week fullt of innefectual misfortune. Lots of stuff that appeared like it was going to suck, but then ended up kinda fizzling off into nothing.
First off, my car died. This was more annoying than a real worry. I had to miss a meeting with my offices old technician and that was a pain. It wouldn't start and my guess was starter. I've changed starters before so i wasn't too worried. Then I realized I still had my all-inclusive warranty that even covers towing so I really wasn't worried. Then on the way home from an evening run Liz asked, "Are your dome lights on?"
They were, very dim from the battery being mostly dead. I kicked myself, jumpstarted the car, and moved on to tragedy number 2.
On Wednesday morning Akio escaped the apartment. We spent all morning looking for him and then eventually had to give up and go to work. We left early, looked for another hour and then had a dinner meeting with the boss. We were both really sad and worried. But when we got home we had a note on the door from the upstairs neighbor. Akio came back to the building at night and our neighbor scooped him up and kept him in the bathroom until we got home. Yay! We baked him a great big batch of cookies in thanks, but we haven't caught him at home yet to give them to him.
We have almost enough money saved to start looking for a bigger apartment! Yay new jobs! And my little sister is coming to visit this coming Friday. We also just got some live plants, a hanging pothos that lives on the bookshelf and a Majestic Fern that lives by the kitchen window. They make the apartment feel very nice.
