Friday was my last day with the Pet Staff. By then I had already lost most of my regular clients one way or another, (one client quit their job, etc). So the last few weeks it had pretty much been my favorite dogs Wiley and Julie (two psycho but awesome Whippet-Shepherd mixes) and a random assortment of clients spread awkwardly across my free time. I've loved this job, but really its been like, one visit at 8, one at 11, one at 1pm. So for a grand total of about $24 I've lost my entire day, driven all over the place (gas prices, gah!) and been forced to eat lunch out.
So I will miss my dogs and I'm going to have to readjust my workouts and diet to keep from putting on a gajillion pounds now. But I'm happy.
And I'm going to have plenty to do to fill up that extra time. Penguin writing is done and now its on to the visual component. So much fun. I'm also developing two pilot scripts that I'll be working on and that animated short I keep mumbling about.
Meanwhile, in dork land, I've been coding and coding and coding. I've always been interested in programming, but I never really had the motivation to learn much more than the basics. Working on
Vinny's website got me to dive back into a little and now I'm building these website networks at work, and I want to do it smart and right. So I am simultaneously learning javascript, asp and php as well as mysql database stuff. Its great, I always love that feeling I get when I'm learning things. I just love the act of learning itself.
The crew at the LA zoo
My LA people at the zoo. We have Allison and Nick looking charming, myself wearing a pair of shorts that are officially retired as of now (ew), Peter and Danielle with matching ear to ear grins, and in the front row the lovely
garneyloom and
imissportland defying orders to "Say Cheese" with all of his cynical rage. Taking the picture was
faekeeper who opted to stay out of the photo, as her dazzling good looks would have made the rest of us resemble the hippopotami swimming behind us.
Akio is a rockstar
Is this picture not dorkness^2!? Not only do we have a ferret, not only do we have DDR, but also ... the ferret plays DDR. Incidentally, his sense of rhythm is a little off and he always claims its this, "Stupid cheap pad. I am so much better in the arcade." But he's generally too busy eating doritos and doing oekaki fan art to go to the arcade.
I'm kidding about the ferret talking and eating doritos and doing fanart. Hopefully you did not need that clarification.
