~ Nonpareil ~
Elizabeth, taking her ease with young Jamie, who was plump and drowsy with milk, barely looked up when Jack walked in.
"You're awfully proud of that mite," Jack smiled.
"Isn't he beautiful? The best thing I've ever done."
"Let me have him, here." Jack scooped him up with a practiced air, and the baby blinked and gave a sleepy, happy gurgle. "There you are, my fine lad," said Jack. "Your Mum and Da may've given you beauty, but it's me as'll show you how to be a pirate."
"And a good man," Elizabeth added, her proud gaze on Jack now.
