i don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but in my episcopal church (& all episcopal churches since the prayer format is always the same) we prayed for people, but not actual... happenings. for instance, we didn't pray for the war to end, but we prayed for the leaders of the countries to make intelligent decisions. so technically, is that even intercessory prayer? because we weren't asking god to fix the problem; we were asking god to advise those who needed to fix the problem. anyway, we wouldn't pray for something like god fixing the drug epidemic ( ... )

Hmm. If you take the strict view that God knows everything, can do everything, has a unchanging plan for everyone, I guess, yes. That's um, a very Calvinist Protestant view of God. Which borrows heavily from ancient Greek philosophy, and not really presen in Judaism or even the recorded teachings of Jesus ( ... )

Well of course God changes his mind all over the place in the Bible. It just really annoys me when people make omni- claims in the face of that. Thanks for the input! I've never looked into process theology, but its on the list now.

focus on the real meat of scripture, rather than non-orthodox theology. stick with the main idea: what does scripture, the Word, say?

yes, the cousin of jessica's god-father, george m. @ dalraida, is a christian scientist.

they believe that when you are ill you have allowed your spirit to loose alignment with the great spirit being. it's strickly "mind over matter" issue. weird.

what does scripture say about prayer?

the only true answer to your question must come from God.
His Word is recorded.
check it out, but ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand first.
yes, it takes faith to ask and believe.

remember, He gave man free will. our prayer requests are an acknowedgement that we can't do everything on our own.

books & books have been written on prayer. but start with His Word.

That person is missing the real issue. The bumper sticker should have read:

"Ask God why He created the drug epidemic."
