Random stuff

Ok, so last week we went to see Wanted. It was alright, but I felt like the story wasn't complete. It was a good action movie, however, and that makes it worth a matinee. Others will disagree and say it was fabulous, but I felt some plot holes along the way that made it less fun for me, and I felt the characterization was a little off. I also watched The Signal (a rental). It was very interesting, with roots in horror and black comedy. It's directed by three different people in three parts (but it's a linear timeline, like a three act play). There were a few good scares and some funny moments, overall worth the rent. Keith rented Vantage Point yesterday and said it got reeeaaallly old going over and over the same thing as this movie does, like Groundhog's Day but not as entertaining. I hope to actually watch Tombs of the Blind Dead this weekend, and my new Fango suggested a couple of fun horror titles that I'll be looking for at the video store.

As for other more important stuff...

My friend is in the hospital and had a cardiac catheter yesterday after a week of persistent chest pain. Thank goodness all is well for him (he's clean as a whistle in those arteries, but he does have a valve problem that he'll be attending to). We were all crowded in his hospital room last night giving him a hard time because he couldn't move. Apparently after this procedure you have to stay very still for a few hours, and he was in hell. Poor guy. He should be out and going home today where he has been ordered to sit on the couch and watch movies.

Mom had an asthma attack today so we had to cancel plans to go out. I'm worried about this asthma as it's a new development for her and she's not in the best shape as it is (although her cholesterol and blood pressure are fabulous). It's a horrible feeling to not be able to breathe, I know since I suffered severe asthma as a child, teen and young adult (even going to the emergency room in my late 20's--wow, if you go in not being able to breathe, they treat you like royalty, no joke). Fortunately I seemed to have grown out of it or something and only occasionally feel a twinge when we have smoke from fires lingering over the valley. That's what triggered my mom's was this horrible smoke and the extreme heat. She's on an inhaler that makes her feel not so good.

Not much else going on here, just unbelievable hotness (I don't mean me..I'm not hot YOU ARE). It's going to be like 109 at the airport today, which means it's about 125 at my house. I'm not kidding about that. I wish I were. Of course if I lived in a different time zone, like Vaso, I may only suffer 105 degree weather..or perhaps have a lovely snowstorm in the afternoon. Who knows.

Alright, off to hang out with the husband.
