Both of these are adorable and make me happy in my nerd-place. The Sherlock case is SO CUTE. I have bookmarked the blog. Her art is amazing and so sweet. And the "and they did" story is excellent. I think it's a lovely refrain for a relationship.
Re: not working for pay for doing something you really love, I admire that a lot, and if you don't mind me asking, is that . . . I don't know . . . is that working out for you? Because I'm in a similar place with my My Litte Pony customs.
Well, it's working for me in that this is the only request I've taken. I make a lot of things for my friends but only when it's something I want to do out of the goodness of my heart/love of the hobby/lack of space in my apartment. But I would never sell my stuff because then it becomes about the money and not about doing something I enjoy for the enjoyment of doing it. If I thought that I could make money and not get tired of doing it, I would, but it's just not in me. I admire people who do sell their work because I just can't imagine spending that much time on something for what would never really be a justifiable amount of money compared to the time it would take to stitch.
Wow, haha, I didn't mean to write a novel on the subject. Sorry.
Yeah, I do loads of other stuff that I DO sell, and I really don't enjoy the selling part of it. I need the money and all, but I'd rather be doing it because I wanted to.
The ponies are tremendously time and labor-intensive, so there's just no chance I could get a price that reflected a fair hourly rate! I may end up selling some after I make them, but I don't see myself ever taking commissions.
And yes, cross stitching/needlepoint are incredibly time-consuming, and people really don't seem to respect that, which sucks. :/ I miss doing it, though. :)
