So Holland America said "there won't be a formal night on this cruise" and since I wanted an excuse to wear a fancy-schmancy dress, I was all: :(
Then today I got the schedule email and now I'm all: :D

What cruise is it that HAL isn't doing a formal night. I'm boggled!

I was too. It's a theme cruise: JoCo Cruise Crazy. Maybe they figured that a boat full of nerds might not be interested in dressing up (wrong!), but I'm entirely sure that there aren't enough of us sailing to warrant cancelling formal nights for the entire ship.

Oh, it might be the length. Normally they do one formal night per week and they do promote that their cruises near the holidays tend to be more casual. So you probably hit a combination of those two things. We did have 2 formal nights on the 11-day we did around the same time last year though.

There was originally a formal night scheduled for, I think, Wednesday, but a few weeks ago we got a note from the travel agent saying "I've been told there won't be an official formal night on this trip, but feel free to dress up if you want to anyway". Maybe it is "casual holiday cruise" thing. Clearly some of us are going to make an excuse for dressing up though. :)

I'd love to see you in a ball gown, with or without mustache...

Much as I prefer long hair on women, I have to admit that the new haircut looks perky and cute. :-)

that as "clothing optional."

I love the new haircut. It's beautiful on you! Since you have naturally wavy hair too, I highly reocmmend products in the Moroccan Oil line (particularly this stuff called "curl cream"). I use it on my ends and it helps my waves behave and not poof up like a cotton ball.

I did have a problem with poof when my hair was cut into a bob (mushroom head) so you might want to play around a bit with styling product to get your hair to behave like you want.

Thankee. =) I've been using either Avon's Lotus Shield or Jessicurl's Rockin' Ringlets or Confident Coils. nixieq introduced me to the Jessicurl stuff and it is faaaaaaaaabulous; it's about the only thing that keeps my hair even close to in line.
