I know, I know. Blogging is dead. etc etc. But this wasn't twitter fodder.
Got the best surprise present yesterday, the wedding of the Jones'. Yes, they were already both last named Jones, so that's serendipitous as all get out for starters. And the wedding itself was not a surprise, but how great the friends and company were was. Friends that I'd grown away from due to dumb workplace fusses were there and all the dead weight melted away like nothing over the course of the evening. The food and drink were great (thanks mandatory Cameron Mitchell) and the Franklin Park Conservatory is still a fantastic venue for such a thing.
And that's what really was the most amazing gift. Steve and Karen were having their wedding, but Angel and I were getting to relive ours in the same place almost 4 years ago. This time? We even got to have some of the cheese. Hey, when you personally shell out 2 yards of cheddar for just cheese, you kinda want some. But seriously it was amazing. And everything came out perfect, which you hope for from a wedding but never know if that will happen until the chaos forms into an orchestra. I'd like to think we set a good standard. They did forget a flask, but well even that was fine because the beer paced us well for follow up at Tip-Top later. Tyler did a great job with a fine but short wedding ceremony. Even the DJ really impressed me, as he did an on-the-spot acquisition of Gungnam style that was the song of the evening based on crowd reaction. Anything that could mean less Chicken Dance/YMCA/Cha-Cha slide from the mandatory wedding soundtrack is great.
But the best was getting to spend it with my wife Angel. After getting our people meets out earlier, it was just her and I side by side for the rest of the day. It was wonderful.
Being reminded why we married, via both place and person, will be one of the best days of my life for a long time.
