So one thing I binged last weekend were "The Babysitter" and "The Babysitter: Killer Queen". They were fine for what they were- just fun, horror comedy schlock that doesn't need to be taken too seriously.

The first was one pretty straightforward, the second one did have some actually surprising twists. Like Melanie being the bad guy was not something you saw coming. On the one hand, it was a good twist, on the other, its a little messed up given how things play out.

So in the second movie, we see how Bee recruited the original gang from the first one. And in those cases, they had unrealistic dreams, and decided to shortcut things by selling their soul, which plays in with the lesson at the end of the second movie. Well, except for Max, who was a psychopath who's dream was to be able to kill.

The problem with Melanie though is the way they showed it play out. In the case of Allison and John, we see that they kinda suck, and Bee tempted them into joining her cult to get what they want instead of working harder or accepting its just not their forte. I guess maybe they were pressed for time, or maybe its because they were more focused on showing how this was all Bee's master plan to free/save Cole and Phoebe and destroy all the demons that were made. But all they showed for Melanie was Bee telling her, "you know what's better than a million followers? A billion followers!"

Shown like that, Bee seems like the initiator rather than Melanie. So an argument can be made that Bee screwed Melanie over by making her turn to evil the crux of the plan in order to save Cole and Phoebe. (Which, heh, I just realized is that a stealth Charmed reference, or a coincidence?) Going by the first movie, Melanie doesn't seem like someone who would do that to Cole. I dunno, if we got hints she was someone who would screw over her best friend for fame before Bee mentioned it, I think that would've been better.

Otherwise, it was an enjoyable enough sequel.
