TV commentary:
Batwoman- Color me surprised, but I appreciate it. When the season started, I figured they would drag out the whole Alice is Beth stuff. But nope, Kate learns pretty quickly, and even her father is coming around. I even thought they might drag out the secret of Catherine's involvement. But she fessed up this past ep.
Of course, I'm not sure she's being entirely truthful. She said she did all that to give Jacob and Kate closure, they were obsessed and wouldn't let it go. Which I can see. But trying to blow up Alice, hiring thugs to steal the knife, engaging in all this coverup seems a tad much if that was her only reason.
TWD- Interesting how things play out with the changed characters and storylines. Since there's no Carl in this, Lydia's only connection to Alexandria are Daryl and Negan. I think Carol is getting there, but she's lost too many children to be a surrogate mother to Lydia right now. She's definitely looking out for her, but she's not as parental as Daryl and Negan seem to be.
But yeah, since the coalition is on edge, they're looking for someone to blame, and Lydia makes an easy target. Eventually she gets attacked by the one Highwaymen lady and those punk kids. Negan saves her, accidentally killing the Highwaywoman.
Which puts the council in a precarious position. He killed someone, but it was in defense of another. Now they could kill him for all the prior bad acts, but then what was the point of letting him live all these years, just to kill him when he does the right thing?
The council is split, with Gabriel being the deciding vote. He spends the night to think, only to discover Negan is gone when he wants to discuss the situation with him.
Lydia says she let Negan out, though Daryl knows she's lying, because he was watching the house all night and knows she never left. But she feels safer in jail right now, as with their number one punching bag Negan being gone, she's the next favorite target of all the haters.
But yeah, hopefully they can de-escalate, as Michonne surmises that the reason Alpha hasn't killed them all despite Carol taking that shot at her was because they do have Lydia. They're supposedly treating her right and taking care of her. if that changes though, there's no longer anything holding them back.
