TV commentary:
Legacies- Hmm, some backstory revealed. So apparently Landon's mom Seylah was like this international spy working for a secret government organization that was capturing supernatural threats and throwing them into malivore to erase them. Only she doesn't remember these monsters she captured.
At first, I thought maybe the organization was erasing her mind after missions, but then I realized, oh, duh, if the monsters got erased, that means she would forget the very monsters she just captured. I mean, technically they are erasing her mind, but I guess its not like they were strapping her down and doing some procedure on her.
But interesting, they kinda hinted at it with the Necromancer, it seems like these creatures were a lot more active before they got captured and erased. Which is a convenient excuse for why this crazy stuff wasn't in the Originals or TVD. But at the same time, its weird that this organization hasn't bumped into the Mikaelsons or the Travellers or any of these other folks that have existed for centuries.
Though I guess the difference is vamps, wolves and witches can pass for human, all these other supernatural creatures are quite monstrous looking. But I digress. At some point Seylah ended up in Malivore, and eventually she got out, 2 years later, and she was preggers. So she has no idea how she got that way. She gave up Landon for his safety, and conveniently, since Malivore erased her, she didn't have to try that hard to hide since no one remembered her.
Anyways, after Hope and Alaric catch up with him and his mom, Seylah is all, she's not cut out to be mom, and knowing all this is dangerous for them, so she ends up breaking into Malivore to erase herself again. Only while Alaric and Landon's memory has been erased, Hope seems to remember now. I wonder if she'd always been immune as the Tri-brid, but never had occasion to know someone who was erased, so its never been an issue.
She informs Alaric because there's another complication. After Landon heard about the three keys, he discovers he had somehow gotten his hand on another mysterious object and tells Hope and Alaric he did not steal it. So is he some kinda supernatural creature who can magically pilfer items without even consciously knowing?
In any case, Hope grabbed it and hid it after the guys forgot, and took it to Alaric. And just in time, as the runes on it begin to glow...
