TV commentary:
Riverdale- Wild ep!
So Archie returns to Riverdale just fine. Those rangers took him to the hospital, and he recovered quickly with no lingering issues other than some wicked scars. Heh, Weatherbee thinks he's so far behind he should repeat junior year. And SATs are coming up! This fool actually asks Reggie if he has a way to cheat on it!
And of course Reggie hears cheat and thinks Archie found out about him and Ronnie. Anyways, Archie is not mad, but because he's still traumatized over the events of the last few eps, he's still distant. He even walks out on the SATs. And Hiram mysteriously gets shot during this time. V asks Archie if he did it when he comes to see her in the hospital afterwards, which he's all, the fact that she can even ask means they're dunzo.
Heh, Reg uses this opportunity to show up with flowers.
Anyways, before he got shot, Hiram wanted Claudius to take over for sheriff. Claudius is hesitant, and even Hermione thinks Hiram is getting too bold. Claudius doesn't get to do much- Fangs' undercover work pays off, and they discover the identity of the current Gargoyle King, Tall Boy.
So, the Serpents capture him and try to draw out Hiram as the Man in Black. But Hiram sends Claudius in his stead. FP grabs him at the ambush and... makes a citizen's arrest. For what? Showing up to meet some guy?
After Hiram gets shot, Claudius dies mysteriously in police custody. Hermione contacts FP and tells him, "Its time!" and makes him sheriff. Were they cahooting behind the scenes? Anyways, we find out he's sheriff because Fangs and Sweet Pea are freaking out because they accidentally killed Tall Boy when they thought he was trying to escape.
They go to Jug, who tries to cover it up, and his plan is to throw a party? I mean, presumably there's more to it, but then a cop car shows up and they're all freaking out, but please, it was obvious it was FP.
Other stuff- Betty finds out her bank accounts have been cleaned out. It was Alice, who donated that money to the Farm. Alice forged Hal's signature, so Betty goes to see him. He claims to be the original Gargoyle King, and that he was there on ascension night, planning to kill the whole midnight club, but the principal ruined things, so he killed him instead.
But it turns out that was all a lie, he was fed the info from Penelope, who had been seeing him for conjugal visits by pretending to be Alice. He just wanted to entice Betty to see him. And even though he signs an affidavit testifying he didn't sign it, apparently it doesn't do anything, because the Farm is able to use the money to buy the SoQM place, so it looks like they're all moving to Riverdale!
The Magicians- Interesting start to the season.
So apparently the gang's fake memories were given to them by Dean Fogg, a deal with the library to protect them and keep them out of the library's hair. Kady's a cop, Margo's a fashion designer, Josh is a chauffeur, and Penny's a DJ, and they all look different.
Elliot is supposed to be a heir to some big fortune and Q is an author, but they're off on their own since the entity is in control of Elliot and has Q hostage and is just killing randoms. He apparently plans on killing the rest of them.
Anyways, Kady is the first to get a hint of it- she learns about magic, and that all their lives are taken from some graphic novel. Only, the spell hiding them fights back when they start to remember. So she gathers the rest of them together and does her best to tell them what's what while trying to avoid the curse (she manages to grab an amulet off a hedge witch that seems to help)
They happen to blunder into Marina, who doesn't know who they are, only that they're special. She tries to learn the truth of them, and it temporarily knocks them all out. But Margo was being visited by an "emanation" of Ember that's only activated when something really bad is happening, and is telling Margo as high king she has to fix whatever it is. Since she has no clue what's going on, the remnant of Ember takes drastic measures and shunts her off to Fillory at this moment.
Meanwhile, Julia is a prospective Brakebills student. Even though she tanks the test, Fogg takes her in, because he's still her favoritest student, and doesn't want her getting hurt again like she did last time he was forced to not let her in.
As for Alice, she's being held prisoner by the library. She tries to kill herself to escape, but they're doing their best to keep her alive.
