TV commentary:

Criminal Minds- Wow, this ep demonstrates how long this show has been on! The unsub was the kid from the season 3 premiere all grown up. And its not even a stretch, because that was 10 seasons ago!! But yeah, its weird that's the second kid from the third season to come back as an unsub. First Lindsay Vaughn being Kat Adam's mysterious partner, now him.

Riverdale- Wild ep, and we got some answers! So the origin of G&G is from the SoQM, as a way for their mental patients to cope. "A game born of madness" that never should have left the place, but it sounds like Hiram took it out of there for his own ends. Also, what's up with at least half the dads on this show being murderers? Cheryl's dad killed her brother, Betty's dad was a serial killer, and Hiram's a crime boss. Like we haven't seen him personally kill someone, but he's definitely ordered deaths, and who knows maybe he did poison the principal back when they were in HS.

But I digress, Betty manages to deprogram Ethel, and they break everyone out of the SoQM. Only, because the rest of the girls have been brainwashed by fizzlerocks, Ethel and Betty have to get creative, with Betty pretending to be the Gryphon Queen who slayed the Gargoyle King. Which for the patients, was just a creepy statue that they hallucinated to be more than it was. But there is definitely someone walking around in a Gargoyle King costume, including at the end of the ep in Hiram's office.

Now, is this someone cahooting with him, or a hallucination he's seeing? In any case, he toasts the king, as his plan has come to fruition. And what is his plan? We don't know exactly, but after the vixens have mass seizure at school, Hermoine uses it as an excuse to get the governor to quarantine the town, which is insane.

Heh, so Betty and Ethel broke all those people out only to dump them into an apocalypse. And V and Cheryl waterboard Penelope with syrup to learn of this plan, and they tried to get Kevin, Moose and the rest of the ROTC kids to somehow depose the mayor before learning it was too late. Heh, what were they going to do?! I'm pretty sure a bunch of teens showing up in the Mayor's office cannot get rid of the mayor!

Outside of town, Archie and Jug go to his mom. His sister JB is totally crushing on Archie. And some people are weirdly shipping them. Which, no. She's supposed to be 10, but I'm sure the actress is a little older. But KJ Apa is playing 5 years younger than he actually is. So like I'm guessing a 6 year diff between JB and Archie, and maybe a 8 year diff between the actors. Which isn't too weird if they were in their 20s/30s, but here the difference is miles apart.

Anyways, Archie manages to get captured by Penny, who's about to kill him for Hiram's bounty. But he's freaking saved by JB, which, that's kinda sad that a 10 year old shows him up. But yeah, oddly, this night is full of torture, between Betty interrogating the one Sister in the Gargoyle Room, Cheryl and V syrup-boarding Penelople, and Jug's mom torturing Penny for info so bad its off screen.

She learns Hiram is not going to stop, and also tells Jug he's so wrapped up in the game that he didn't see the obvious thing in front of his face. That Hiram was just using the game as a distraction to get Archie and Jug off the chess board. So she calls Fred and FP, and Fred takes Archie to the border to keep everyone safe, while FP and Jug ride into town, only to find they can't enter the quarantine zone. Whoops!
