TV commentary:
Riverdale- Heh, G&G was ridiculous, but actually not as ridiculous as I thought it was gonna be. Like the game itself was normal, not as insane and silly as TV and movies sometimes make RPGs out to be. The parents had played the game as an escape from some shitty situations.
So young Alice was the bad girl, who had gotten knocked up by FP, but was keeping it a secret. FP was apparently an all-American jock trying to hide his Serpents roots, wanting to make something of himself. Fred was stuck taking care of his sick dad, well stuck isn't the right word, he wasn't resentful of it. But he had dreams of being a rocker or a baseball player. Hermione was a poor, the daughter of a hotel maid. Tom and Sierra were secretly high school sweethearts, because their parents disapproved because the two of them were so "different" from each other. Heh, what decade does this take place in that that's an issue?
And Penelope, holy cow, her back story is effed up!! She was Penelope Blossom back then too. How? Because she had actually been adopted by the Blossoms from the nuns to become Clifford's sister and groomed to be his eventual wife. WTF!!
Anyways, they were just having fun without it getting as dorky as shows often make it. But I guess the end of the ep with Jughead seems to indicate there's some sort of supernatural compulsion preying on troubled young minds.
Reggie and Dilton's dad, Tom and Hiram had been playing together themselves and eventually their group joined the "Midnight Club" (Fred, FP, Betty, Hermione, Sierra and Penelope), culminating in a special ascension party, which Penelope and Dilton's dad thought the other set up. They all got high, except for Alice, since she was secretly preggers. So while they were all out of it, she noticed the Gargoyle King, and chalices, and that their principal was at the school.
Only, none of them drank from the chalices. But who did? The principal, who had died in some closet and wasn't found until days later. Needless to say, the event freaked the kids out, so they decided to cover up everything, getting rid of the game so it couldn't be traced to them as they were scared they would be suspected of murdering him.
And that event changed all of them- FP and Alice flip. He stops trying to hide his Serpent roots and joins the gang while she shed her bad girl image and started to date Hal. Fred decided to quit his dreams and become a construction worker. Sierra and Tom break up, thinking maybe when they're older they'll be together. Penelope so freaked out about the horrors of the "outside world" decides to commit to being Clifford's child bride. And Hermione decided to stop being a goody goody and get with the bad boy Hiram.
