TV commentary:

Counterpart- That's an interesting place to end things. So in the aftermath of all this, both sides are scrambling on what to do. I know for the previous ep, viewers were thinking Indigo's attack was extremely ineffective. Like they plant 3 people in, and then waste them killing randos? But turns out, that was the entire point!

Indigo wanted a blatant attack, one that could easily be traced to Earth Prime in order to screw up relations. And as I said previously, I'm sure there's a reason they only attacked specific people. So yeah, Emily and Ian inform Dwyer about project Indigo, and how that makes things a diplomatic nightmare. Dwyer wants to deny and offer condolences, but Emily thinks that will blow up in their faces, because all the evidence points to their side. She thinks they should accept responsibility, saying it is a rogue faction within their government.

She offers this suggestion during a meeting with "management" some mysterious entity or entities they're speaking to via a mysterious device. On Earth Alpha, the high ups over there are having a similar meeting with their management. Now, Quayle is there (having played off the accident as him driving under the influence and having an argument with Clare to give them a rock solid alibi, like surely they have nothing to do with this massacre!) and he is against them recovering Angel Eyes from no man's land, to wait and see what Earth Prime does. Obviously, he has an agenda, he doesn't want that guy being captured alive and possibly being interrogated for info that leads to Clare and now himself.

Unfortunately, the manangements of both sides go with "sit and wait and see what the other side does". So Angel Eyes dies in No Man's land, and Earth Alpha closes its borders, trapping the Howards on the wrong sides.

On Earth Alpha, Howard Prime tries to just run and hide. But Aldrich blackmails him by threatening to pull Emily's security detail. Well, he's pulling it anyways to lure in Baldwin (who's still at large and just got dumped by Greta who had found Nadia's obituary) so they can get her. Anyways, Howard Prime realizes its a double trap, this is such a huge mess that Aldrich is prolly just gonna kill him, Baldwin and Emily just to cover things up.

And so Howard makes a deal with Baldwin, a whole sum of money to just abandon the contract and disappear, and they end up killing Aldrich and his men. Now, Quayle's the only one who knows Howard isn't this Earth's Howard. And hilariously, the powers that be decide that a task force needs to be formed to root out any other sleepers. And they put Quayle in charge!

Howard knows Quayle is compromised, but since Howard can't run, his only course of action is to just throw himself back in to the organization and figure out an opportunity from there. And so he blackmails Quayle into just keeping mum about the whole switched Howards thing and let him report back to work. Quayle could try to screw with him, and technically, if there was some sort of test pointing to someone being from the other side, he would flag. But since Quayle's last attempt to throw him under the bus failed spectacularly, I don't think he'll try anything yet.

On Earth Prime, Howard Alpha goes to talk to Pope. He just wants to go home! But Pope tries to kill him and Howard is quicker, realizing the attack and brains him with a fireplace poker. Ian finds him and is all, this is a fine mess. Since he's not either Howard's biggest fan, and Howard's politically inconvenient, he throws Howard in cell.

So we end with Howard Alpha imprisoned, and Howard Prime back to work as his Alpha counterpart.
