TV commentary:

Legends of Tomorrow- Heh, this show is too much sometimes! So the Legends have to deal with two anachronisms simultaneously, Amaya going back to change her history and preventing her village from being destroyed, and Grodd going after "Barry". Nope, not the Flash, Barack Obama.

Heh, which leads to a slew of corny in-jokes. Grodd saying he's here to "Make America Grodd Again!" Ray telling Barack, "Run, Barry, Run!" Or, after they defeat Grodd and Sara and Rip telling "Barry" he should go by Barack, and Barack being all, that's what it says on his birth certificate and Sara commenting he better keep a hold of that.

Anyways, with Grodd defeated, Damien tells his daughter/Mallus that he'll finish the job, but its really so he could secretly meet with the Legends and offer a truce to help him free his daughter from Mallus' influence. They don't trust him at all, but are wiling to deal.

Heh, Ray suggests maybe he could get into Nora, getting a deadly look from Damien. But he meant fly into Nora's ear and pretend to be Mallus to trick her. Which leads to the most ridiculous joke of this show- so they were wondering how they could fool her into thinking he's Mallus. Now earlier in the ep, Mick was in the middle of watching Return of the King. So as they're conversing, Denethor comes on screen on the TV. And they're all, "Woah, he totally sounds like Mallus!" So they totally go back to the filming of the LotR and Ray gets John Noble to record some new lines (and call out the movie on how few females there are in the movie compared to the guys) which he uses to trick Nora onto the Waverider and capture her.

Meanwhile, Nick and Wally go to Amaya's village to try and stop her, while Zari uses her simulator to see if she can find a loophole Amaya can use to save her village. Unfortunately, Zari can't find one. And eventually Nate is all screw it, he's gonna help Amaya do whatever she can to save her village.

Eventually, the rest of the Legends run with it- they can only use the totems to defeat Mallus if he shows up, so they'd rather face Mallus then have to fight Amaya. So they'll let her cause a time anomaly to free Mallus and defeat him and somehow free Nora. Nevermind if they change history, Mari might not have the spirit totem, preventing her from helping Ollie from defeating Damien the first time, leading to a whole slew of time changes! But I digress, the only reason the original totem bearers couldn't stop Mallus was because the death totem bearer betrayed them. So this time around maybe they can do it.

So yeah, Nate gets the Earth totem, Ray the Water totem, and they want Sara to wield the Death totem, but she doesn't trust herself. So they have Damien wield it, which is kinda insane. Like, I thought the whole point was having a Death totem bearer who wouldn't betray them! Like I get Sara is scared, but surely she's more trustworthy than Damien, even if he does want to save his daughter. Indeed, it is because of that he betrays them! But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Ava thinks this plan is crazy. And she finds out why Rip picked her- she was the perfect time agent, one that he could easily replace if something happened. Indeed, this Ava is the 12th version. Needless to say, this messes with Ava's head. Anyways, yeah, Rip suggests maybe its time for to go with the Legend's approach of the chainsaw vs the Time Bureau's scalpel. Ava refuses to go along with this and heads back to the Bureau.

Sara tries to stop her, reassure her she's real, despite being the 12 iteration of "Agent Sharpe", that she's the one Sara fell in love with. Alas, that's still not enough to get Ava to believe in herself or go along with this plan.

So yeah, Amaya convinces her daughter to accept the spirit totem (she had originally refused because she was scared because Amaya's reputation was a lot to live up to!) and stop the Warlords from destroying the village. She does, and the Legends and Damien get ready to fight Mallus, only the prison doesn't break and release Mallus. Why? Well, Rip informs them from the Waverider that the village is still destroyed, this time, by Grodd.

Turns out Damien let Grodd back out, because he changed his mind and doesn't think the plan will work, and wants to buy his daughter more time before Mallus takes her over completely. Funny thing, he's not wrong about the plan not working, as Ray hasn't even been able to bond with the Water totem. I mean, maybe he could have in the heat of battle against Mallus, but who knows?

At the same time, its all moot, because Ray helps Amaya's daughter defeat Grodd, so they do create another time anomaly freeing Mallus, who takes over and very likely destroys Nora in the process. So Mallus still gets out, but it doesn't look like the Legends can stop him!
