TV commentary:
Bojack Horseman- Watched the latest season today. Man, this show can be depressing.
I cannot believe they freaking killed off Sarah Lynn. Especially right after Bojack realized how much she actually means to him, and how much he meant to her. Well that, and how he hasn't been the best influence in her life. Like it was funny how he was trying to see if Penny was okay since he was like a father figure and betrayed her (and how dark is that that she was actually fine... until he showed up again!) yet he was oblivious of how he was being the only real father figure Sarah Lynn had and failed her. And just when it seems like things are okay, she ODs. And they freakin even had a fakeout about it not a couple of minutes before.
Oh, and heh, Ethan Around, was that a dig at like shows like Girl Meets World and Fuller House? It was sad, because as per usual, Bojack came around to the idea and things are going great. Until one of the child actresses on the set talks about how she wants to be famous like him, and given what happened to Sarah Lynn, it freaks him out and he just takes off, screwing Ethan/Bradley over again.
But yeah by the end of the season, he's kinda on the outs with most of his friends except for maybe Diane (the joke about her being Asian Daria cracked me up), but at least he stops himself from committing suicide by car crash. But I was confused about the teenage horse girl who called up for him at Princess Carolyn's management company. Is she a character we've seen and I've totally forgotten about? Or is this a twist where he has an illegitimate daughter out there?
Speaking of Princess Carolyn, its also sad to see people falling back on old habits. Like when her agency comes crashing down, she finally has time for herself, and gets back with mouse guy. Only for her to still be unhappy and deciding to become a manager (which is totally different from agent).
And mouse guy's sister hires Diane for her new website, and totally convinces Diane to possibly throw Mr Peanutbutter under the bus for an article by playing on the issues in their relationship. But hey, he might become Governor of California!
Which on the one hand, it was depressing/upsetting what happened with the car service with Todd being all, "What if we provided this service for men?" and totally destroying the whole original idea behind the service. The situation was depressing because that's the kinda jack-ass thinking that exists today. But had the service not become what it did, they couldn't save the one city. (Which I'm amused the spaghetti strainers did indeed pay off, but it was not as big a pay off as I would like)
And heh, Todd gets 8 million dollars for his cut of the company, and he accidentally tips it away? But interesting, I hear his whole speech at the end was him coming out as asexual? (Heh, it cracked me up when he was about to tell the story of how he started narrating Mazda commercials, because Aaron Paul narrating those Mazda commercials was quite random)
Oh, random reference I'm not sure if I'm totally making up or not, but in the first ep, when Mr Peanutbutter was all, "You're in New York City? They make the best salsa!" Am I reaching, or is that an obscure reference to the Pace Picante commercial where the cowboys were aghast that the salsa was made in NYC?
