TV commentary:
Scream- Season finale! Didn't expect the Sheriff to die so quickly. Especially in such a punny way- the killer said his death would be gut wrenching. And then they figure out where he is, and the killer evilly had already gutted him and the ropes tying him to the tree were holding his guts in. So when Maggie runs up to untie him, she ends up hastening his death (there was prolly no chance to save him even if they knew his guts would spill out if they untie him)
More surprising, other than him and some random, no one else dies! Everyone survives! Well, except Piper, because she's the killer. I mean, most people knew she was going to be Maggie and Brandon's actual child. So when they like find her jeep and there's some blood and her tape recorder and glasses, that sealed it, of course she totally staged the scene.
But yeah, I'm getting ahead of myself- after the events of the dance, Branson escaping, and the sheriff dying, Noah and Emma try to get a hold of Brooke and Audrey. But apparently the malware had resurfaced, and not only prevented the girls from seeing the messages, but it drew Kieran to the party. Also, Jake had only discovered the malware had came back online and was trying to figure out who started it back up, but being a jerk, also used it to spy on Brooke along the way because he wanted to see her luscious melons. And he tells her as much, and apologizes for it, but she gets pissed at him.
Anyways, with Brooke arguing with Jake, she puts Audrey (whom she kinda befriends at the party) in charge. Random boy gets out of the pool and needs to use the pisser, but Audrey stops him, not wanting him to get water all over the house. She sends him to do his business behind the poolhouse (which, gross, how is that better than him tracking water in the house). And he gets his throat cut. Some other random finds his body, and everyone who's not a main character flees.
Which, okay, at that point, why wouldn't any of those kids called the cops or personally gone to the cops and sent them over there? The malware might possibly prevent call outs, but you'd think someone would find a cop and tell them. Anyways, Audrey goes to check the source of what caused everyone to flee, and is attacked by the killer before cutting to commercial.
Meanwhile, Jake goes to sulk, so Brooke comes out to find everyone gone. Except for Seth, who explains the real killer unlocked the door and let him out, and he freaked so he ran to her since she's the only person he trusts. Which, why the eff didn't he just stay at the station? If he did, he could explain the real killer killed the cop and let him out, because why would he still be there if he actually stabbed that cop!? But whatever, Brooke refuses to let him in. Particularly because he gets shady and tries to beat her to an unlocked door. Its like if she's not letting you in because she doesn't trust you, why would you do something that would provoke panic in her?!
But yeah, lights go out, he disappears, only for the killer to re-appear. He locks Brooke in the fridge in the garage where it seems like she's going to suffocate to death. But luckily, Emma and Noah get to the house, run into Kieran, break the news to him his dad is dead, and then bump into Jake and hear Brooke's cries from the garage, and are able to free her. Noah bumps into Audrey, who claims to have blacked out after the killer attacked (which is incredibly suspicious, more on that later)
So, the gangs all reunited and safe, but then when Emma goes to find a medical kit to patch up Brooke, the land line rings and tells her to go to the lake and not tell the others lest they get killed.
She finds her mom on the docks where Brandon was shot, and what the shit, she just runs up to her and gets ready to untie her. Like, did she not learn anything from Will or the Sheriff, it could be a trap that could kill her mother. Anyways, Piper reveals herself as the killer and Maggie's other daughter and Emma's half sis. Heh, I'm amused how she talks about the kismet in finding the perfect patsy in Seth. I mean, its kinda funny, because yeah, she was prolly trying to figure out her plan, and what do you know, here's some pedo who mysteriously ran and disappeared after the student he was dating died! How convenient!
Eventually, there's a struggle with Emma and Maggie holding their own, but eventually Audrey shows up and shoots Piper, who falls into the lake. And just like in the original movie, Emma is all, "they always come back!" and quickly grabs the gun and shoots Piper when she comes back up.
So, everyone survived. But the cops can't find Piper's body. Noah takes over her podcast and explains everything (but wondering if the killer was Piper, then who attacked her and Will in the old warehouse), Kieran and Emma get together, Jake gets rid of the malware, and Audrey... is in her room, where she has letters from Piper, which she burns! She's the accomplice!
I had a feeling about that! I mean, obviously her miraculously surviving her attack was suspect, and they never explained how her DNA was on the mask. But I started to suspect her again when she got all mad that Emma wouldn't believe her last ep. And the way she was staring at the picture of the two of them together- I hope they don't make her into like this stalker lesbian who's jealous of all of Emma's bfs and got rid of Rachel once Emma was back in her life. That wouldn't be cool.
There is a second season, so it will be interesting to see where they go from there since the audience knows Audrey is a secret bad guy.
