TV commentary:
Arrow- Ugh, why did they make Wildcat some youthful pretty boy MMA fighter? I get shows like Flash and Arrow and even Smallville are supposed to be early in the careers of these iconic superheroes, but Wildcat was always this kinda grizzled, experienced fighter in my head.
Not only do we get awful Wildcat, we also get the Mark Shaw Manhunter. Heh, convenient that since Diggle was accompanying Ollie and Roy to Corto Maltese, Lyla had a side job for her husband (or just baby daddy? I don't recall if they remarried). Which speaking of, I get Manhunter was all, "Argus and Amanda Wall made me do some horrible stuff, they're not good people!" but was he hoping to get sympathy from Diggle? As Diggle said, one of the compromised IDs would be his wife/ex-wife/whatever, putting her and his newborn daughter at risk. If he had a problem with Waller, then go after Waller. Of course Diggle is going to go crazy on his ass because his family was at risk!
And hey, Ollie and Roy managed to convince Thea to go home with them, though it sounds like Malcolm is following her back. And it looks like the boys are kinda freaked out about Thea's new high threshold for pain.
Other stuff, Ray got Felicity to crack a seemingly unrecoverable hard drive, which unbeknown to her, had weapons schematics with "OMAC" all over them. Now, is he being all nefarious, are the schematics a big surprise to him too, or is he seeking to foil whoever is building and using these weapons?
And uh oh, Nyssa shows up demanding to know where Sara is. Next week should definitely be interesting.
SVU- Wow, that was an effed up and depressing SVU.
Its like what the shit, "the difference between those videos and the vid the rapists captured was you got paid for the latter"?! No, the difference was, her porn videos were consensual, and a job. The latter was a couple of pricks raping her. Being a porn star does not give men free reign over some woman's body!
Man, this ep just angered me. Because they hit all the bullshit that comes with the territory- she's the one who gets expelled because of her past and her rapists didn't (since the one guy wouldn't have actually had a conviction). Isn't it kinda effed up in real life that someone who plagiarizes a paper is more at risk of being expelled and looked at with disdain by the administration than a rapist?! And all the freaking slut shaming, the, "we don't want to ruin these young men's promising lives!" because who cares about the girl who's life was destroyed, lets let these boys have no consequences for thinking a woman is just something for them to fuck, and treating her like a sex object.
And the sad thing is, there are people who actually think this is a two sided issue, who do think its kinda her fault for being in rough, gangbang porn. How hard is that to understand, just because she said yes once in some other situation does not mean she's always up for it, anytime, anywhere?! The ending was pretty sad, I was worried she was going to kill herself, but nope, since everyone thinks she's this slut, she got kicked out of college, her family disowned her, she sees pr0n as her only path now. It makes me so mad! And a little guilty and hypocritical for my pr0n tastes.
Criminal Minds- Given my feelings on bugs, this ep was kinda horrific to me. But also kinda hilarious!
I mean, its pretty funny how they unwittingly kept feeding into the unsub and Lacey from Middleman's delusions. Like when accountant lady from Jericho knocked on Lacey's door, if JJ hadn't called, that whole situation might have gone down much differently. Lisa may have been able to get through to Jane. Well, given the unsub's state, they prolly would've gotten killed, but still! The fact that Lisa was all, "Oh yes, Agent Jereau, I'll come to the station right now!" on her cell was like the exact wrong thing to happen at that time, because now they do think she's some Fed plant.
Or with Kate and Rossi showing up later and kicking down her door. Way to not make yourselves look like jackbooted govt thugs! So its a bittersweet ending, they catch the unsub, and Hotchner managed to get through to Lisa's psyche and solve her issues. But Jane on the other hand is probably even more nuts now. And the next meeting of that group (if there is a next time, since Lisa was the leader) would probably be totally interesting, with Jane ranting about what the FBI did. Shouldn't they put Lisa in protective custody or something? Like I'd be legitimately worried the folks in the group would go after her.
