After an exhaustive couple months of academic bingo, I've finally picked the correct card.
Unfortunately, it means I need to complete another undergraduate degree.
Fortunately, I have a feeling I may be involved in some pretty fantastic research projects. And I will be at what is recognized as the best University in the world for the cognitive neuroscientific study of music perception and expertise.
My pot of gold = Dr. Ian Gold. He is the director of the program in Cognitive Sciences that I want desperately into, and he is "going to do whatever he can to help me get into this program" because he "wants someone with my background in the program." And in fact, we are gathering a small team of professors and trying to convince the apropriate committees to let me study in a completely made up program. If the dean of Music (whose name, unbelievably, is Don McClean) thinks that my research idea sounds neat like Dr. Gold did, then I would be studying cognitive science from within the department of music.
I've got crazy appointments this week because the deadline to apply is Thursday, and no one knows where I should be, exactly. But Dr. Gold said: "wow- it's so interesting that you've come along here. You should contact so and so, who has recently been awarded 6 million dollars for research involving oxytocin, jazz improv and trust..."
*Chelsea is here...we're going to drink wine to get drunk and watch comedic movies. This was kind of boring anyway.
...I know you'll await part 2.
