The Eternal Storms that surround Kintostown's boarders are a byproduct of the Old Wars. These storms are fairly constant with rare breaks between them. Thunder and Lightning is an almost constant occurrence that the people rarely notice it any longer.
It's also prone to rain often, which is largely why Kintostown has such deep--if mechanically moving for reasons unknown--foundations. This also makes farming for a sort of interesting and understandably complicated. Some Sparky innovations have gotten around this, but only to a limited standpoint. As such, Kintostown largely trades with other towns to continue to survive (This is also one of the big reasons Kintostown submitted to Wulfenbach's Peace so quickly--it made things such as that far more accessible, and Clanks as a military or not, they wouldn't've won that fight at all).

The Fennix Observatory was constructed before the two families merged, it's an old, abandoned building that Bella used as a hideout for some time before leaving Kintostown territory.
