Just turned down a job from a blues music web site this week. I didn't like saying no, but although it was a paying gig, it just wasn't enough for the hours I was going to have to put into it. I did NaNo again this year. I just finished my story. It's 50,493 words. I wrote 17 thousand of those in the last two days. It's less of an accomplishment when you figure I had tons of daylight hours in which to do that, but still, pretty awesome. At 9:22 Eastern time I officially reached the end of my novel that I began from nothing 29 days ago. It stands complete as a rough draft, totalling 64,446 words. Rock the hell on, dudes! Last year my novel was 76 thousand words on the 30th and still not done. It took me another 16 thousand to complete it seven months later. I'm getting so good ( Read more... )

Yesterday at about quarter to seven I hit fifty thousand words on my novel for NaNoWriMo. That is the official minimum word count to declare yourself a winner of the challenge. Into the second week of NaNo, and I hit 20 thousand words last night. In another couple of days I should be officially halfway through. I may get there a little early, which would be nice, but this year every time I've gotten a little ahead within the next day or so I fell back to average pace. I'm doing NaNoWriMo, writing a 50,000-word novel in thirty days. I'm at almost 9,000 right now. It's kind of eating up my life, most of my free time. The times when I can't write my head is working on what I will write when I can write. This is largely why you've heard nothing of me for a while.
