orientation was last thursday and friday. it wasnt too bad, but was mostly a lot of meetings where they tried to tell us everything about state. most of it seemed pretty pointless since they had been sending us this stuff all summer. but overall it was pretty good. i learned my way around campus a litle bit, and realized that finding my way around it going to be harder than i thought especially with all the construction. thankfully we move in earlier than everyone else so i should have a little extra time to at least figure out how to get to my classes. i also met some cool new people, as well as met up with one from high school, which was a nice surprise. got lots of "free" stuff as well.
so since i came back from orientation i've mainly been working. the weekend was really slammed, and we couldnt get anyone to help out sun pm, so we got out pretty late, but oh well, it's more hours. since the weekend i really havent been getting any more hours which surprised me since this is my last week before i go off to college. i'll be back every couple of weekends starting sept of course, but i would think they would want to have me work more than just 4 shifts in my last week here, but oh well. i guess they want to train the new girl since it seems like she's working a lot this week.
there's been so much drama at work lately, mainly with a vet tech and her husband and so many stories have been floating around it's hard to know what to believe. most of it doesnt make any sense, but without the whole story it's really hard to judge. so far my sources havent been the most reliable, although a few have been. there's been your everyday drama as well, stuff not getting done right and dr nick freaking out. there was a flea infestation in groom and of course dr nick bitched about that. but for once i think he has a right to, i mean how hard is it to spray down the tables and trashcans with flea and tick remover, or to tell the a vet that the dog still has fleas before they give it back to the owner? sometimes i wonder if some ppl have just lost their common sense. thankfully all that happened when i was at orientation, but i felt bad for the ppl that had to deal with it after groom had left. but i guess when they dont make sure their employees are properly trained this shit is going to happen.
since it doesnt look like im going to be getting any extra hours at work, i've been using the extra time at mrs apple's. i really should have spent more time there over the summer instead of just once a week, there's so much stuff to do still. today i spent 4 hours there going through the usual mail, then about 4 boxes of papers, and another 5 stacks or so that were piled on the bedroom desk and kitchen table. after all that and a couple of trashbags later, it doesnt even seem like we made a dent. im updating her address book though and when i return it thursday will probably stay to get through a few more boxes. depending on what time i get up and how ambitious i feel, i might even go over there tomorrow. who knows?
karla brought me dinner last night that she cooked herself! i love homemade food! about half of it is already gone, so that's a downer, but it will probably make it to dinner tomorrow night too! thanks again karla!
