Skiing in the mountains

So I went skiing to Colorado with a friend of mine from school a week ago. He has family out in Frisco, CO which is near Copper Mountain (where we went skiing) so it worked out really nice. We got uber cheap airfare and lift tickets and didn't have to pay for lodging.

It was SO neat skiing out there though. I'd never been skiing outside of MN/WI before and this put anything in the Midwest to shame. I mean, one of the ski lifts took you up over a half mile vertically! And there are TWO sets of ski lifts, one halfway done the mountain and one at the bottom, not to mention this poma lift thing that took you to the way, way top (12,260 ft). And I couldn't get over how I was actually IN the mountains. Yeah. Sweetness.

And the rating scales are a step up out there too. Black diamonds out there beat anything out at Afton Alps. Anything in the Metro area wouldn't qualify as a black diamond out in Colorado. My friend made sure to get me down some of the black runs though. Moguls and all. I managed not to hurt myself but could use a little more practice.

A few random thoughts:

- Runaway truck ramps? I'd never seen those before.
- Boo friends who live out in Colorado that couldn't come visit me.
