Hello. I hope everyone had a good Xmas and good New Year. When the clock struck midnight here, the year changing to 2005, my parents and I were driving through town, on our way home. This is because on New Year's Eve, I had to close at Burger King. I wasn't originally supposed to, but the manager made a schedule change.
There has been a lot of people that have gotten fired at BK. Even one of managers. Apparently, she admitted to doing something, and I guess the other employees who lost their jobs were doing something bad as well. All the "bad things" they were doing got back to the owner. I don't know what was going on; it seems like some kind of secret conspiracy among the fired employees.
Anyway, since BK has lost some people, the amount of names on the schedule is shockingly small.
There is an advantage to me that people were terminated: I get more hours!
However, this means I'm going to start doing front counter, and I'm pretty sure they'll have me on drive-thru soon. I've never had a job before BK, let alone a position where I had to give change back. That's the main part I'm having trouble with. I screw up, and the customers let me know that I give them too little change, or, for the most part, too much change.
I feel like I'm the only one there that has trouble with the change, but there's another employee who uses a calculator. There's also a guy who seems like a person who would have difficulty running front counter.
Also, I remember one day someone asked this guy if he thought he could do front counter, and he replied no. So, I just can't be the only person having trouble.
I didn't learn how to give change back in school; I wasn't taught that.
I guess I just have to keep practicing until I feel confident with the front counter position. It's a lot of work, including cleaning the restrooms. There's a problem, though: someone walking in the place while I'm cleaning the bathrooms. I think it's best if I let my co-workers know when I'm in the bathrooms, so they can cover for me.
Two more things about work:
1. I finally get breaks! Now that I'm working at least 6 hours, I'm able to take a 30 mintue break. They are so refreshing.
2. There's this really cute guy that I worked with for the first time this past Friday. I closed with him, and it was so wonderful. Well, except for the manager freaking out because she was ready to get out of there, and it wasn't long before the start of the new year. Oh well. It was really busy the final hour before closing, so we didn't really have a chance to get starting on cleaning.
I'm glad I get to work with this guy. He's why I look forward to going to work (that is, on the days he and I work together).
Now, about the stuff going on with my brother. The witnesses to the fight, who live a short distance from us, got a suprise in their mailbox this past Saturday morning: a heart. Yes. It was a real bloody heart. When I heard about it, I got freaked out. Whoever put the heart in there sure did do a good job of making me feel uncomfortable. I'm sure the people who received it in the mail were scared as well. I doubt it was a human heart though. It was probably a deer or pig heart. I didn't see it though, and I feel lucky for that.
My parents are doing their share of frightening me too. They keep on saying that if I hear knocking on the front door at night, that I should wake them up and tell them. They don't even want me looking out the window to see who it is. OMG! This whole stalker-rape-revenge thing is crazy! I look forward to starting college this month, so I can take my mind off of it!
Well, that's it for now. Later.
