on what seems to be a 'normal' tues night,
things are going according to the plan.
visiting, drinking coffee, hanging out.
no warning of the the madness that is about to occur.
taking a leisurely stroll into the diner
that we call home at all hours of the next days morning,
the atmosphere is all but different.
familiar faces surround and the coffee begins to flow
as always.
a wave of crazy begins to fill this small space.
a man more feminine than most women begins a movie monologue,
unlike anyone has seen before.
with wire hangers and floors swept with knees,
this second home has turned into a stage,
two people new to this man stare in awe and amazement,
knowing that this is one for the books.
a cry for an encore calls for a rendition of a drag queen,
performed by a drag queen.
nothing anyone hasn't ever seen right?
this turns yet again into discussions of men,
and what makes a man a man,
according to this womanly man of course.
with time to breathe, the bewildered duo decide to calm everything down,
or create more madness, however you choose to see it,
by playing some background music.
the handsome man pretending to work (he's only wearing the part),
makes one of his usual comments while they are at the jukebox.
one notices the newly shapen facial hair that has appeared on his face,
and mentions that they prefer him clean shaven.
an exchange is made and before anyone knows any better,
this man is clean shaven yet again, in exchange for an introduction of sorts.
how and why this happened this way no one will ever know.
all of this within no more than 45 mins.
more madness and wonderful craziness happens throughout the rest of this evening,
the duo knowing that only they are a part of this because they appreciate it all for what it all is.
to my partner in crime: cheers to more nights like these to share with each other and our kids and grandkids....i love you darling.
