The words Parent One and Parent Two will be replacing Mother and Father. This is actually a good thing, because, in addition to better facilitating same-sex couples raising children, it facilitates mixed familes--where father has taken another wife, where aunt and grandma are raising the children of a deceased son or daughter, sister or brother. Is this opening a can of worms or not? I think not, if the cases are handled individually, and sensitively, and not simply judged on a six-month basis. I mean, Main was six years around this child; that makes an impact.
