31st Birthday

Feb 23, 2011 00:07

The internet gods have a mean sense of humour, making my system crash so late at night.

I had an enjoyable birthday today, and got some good presents, including mostly clothes, but also a new clock.

I went to London today and went on a Duck Tour, which is on a vehicle designed to go on the road and on the water, previously used in World War II, so we started off driving around London, and then we went down the Thames a little way; we had to shout "quack quack" at other tour vehicles.

After this, we went to the British Art Exhibition, where Roger Hiorn's exhibit involving flames and a naked guy is on display at the moment; the flames and the guys are bought on only at set times, though - it looks like this:

While I'm not gay, I was interested in seeing this all the same. I asked a guy who worked there, and he told me that it was on four times a day; about a minute later, he returned and told me that it was next happening at 3pm, which was in twenty minutes. I returned to the spot in time; it involved just a bench behind a rope, and I looked around to see if there was a guy coming in the direction of the bench wearing a robe, which he presumably would have then shed before sitting on the bench; I wondered even if he would suddenly stroll in completely naked, or even rise up on a trapdoor; it got to 3:10pm and nothing happened, so we got bored and left.

We went to Covent Garden, where there was a guy doing an escapology act, while topless (which was quite impressive considering that it was freezing); he got two guys to tie three chains around him, so it looked strangely like some sort of bondage act. We finished off with dinner in Jamie's Italian.

And I really need to log off and go to bed now, so goodnight. A picture post will hopefully appear within the next few days.
